We are seeking a skilled PostgreSQL Database Administrator with a strong background in database migration, optimization, support, and security. The ideal candidate will have extensive experience in managing database migrations from legacy systems to modern platforms, ensuring seamless transitions and optimal performance. This role will involve collaborating closely with teams to move end-of-life databases to new environments and subsequently providing support to ensure their stability and security.

Responsibilities

Responsibilities:

• Plan and execute database migrations from end-of-life systems to PostgreSQL and other modern platforms.
• Optimize database performance through effective tuning and configuration adjustments.
• Ensure database security by implementing best practices and maintaining robust access controls.
• Troubleshooting for migrated databases, working closely with operational teams.
• Collaborate with other teams to transfer ownership and ensure seamless transition and maintenance of migrated databases.
• Document migration processes, configurations, and troubleshooting steps for future reference.
• Stay current with PostgreSQL and database management trends, tools, and technologies.
  
  

Qualifications:

• Proven experience as a PostgreSQL Database Administrator or similar role, with a focus on database migration and optimization.
• Strong understanding of database architecture, principles, and best practices.
• Experience in managing large-scale database migrations, particularly from legacy systems.
• Proficiency in SQL and scripting languages for automation (e.g., Bash, Python).
• Familiarity with database security practices and tools.
• Excellent problem-solving skills and ability to troubleshoot complex database issues.
