Title: Database Architect

The Database Architect is responsible for managing data and database architecture using coding skills to write the codes and generate the database. This role provides technical expertise in how ECX database should look and function. The technology is primarily SQL Server and Oracle. This position is based in Herndon, VA, and has a hybrid work schedule (home/office) reporting to VP, Systems Development and Architecture.

Primary Responsibilities

  • Lead the design, implementation, and maintenance of database architecture to meet organization's needs for scalability, performance, reliability, and sustainability.
  • Design and implement complex stored procedures, functions, and triggers to support real-time data processing and analysis.
  • Develop database architecture that incorporates best practices for security, data integrity, and disaster recovery in Azure cloud environment.
  • Research and suggest improvements and optimize solutions for data flow across the company.
  • Plan and manage deployments by supporting application development staff with database design and implementation.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to understand business requirements and translate them into database solutions and logical data models.
  • Evaluate and recommend database technologies and tools to support business needs.
  • Define and implement database standards and guidelines to ensure consistency across projects.
  • Provide technical leadership and mentorship to junior database administrators and developers.
  • Perform database performance tuning, optimization, and troubleshooting.
  • Assist in compliance efforts to include reporting, auditing, and implementation to maintain quality and accuracy.
  • Ensure compliance with data protection regulations and best practices.
  • Troubleshoot technical issues and provide solutions.

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities

  • Bachelor's or Graduate's Degree in computer science, information systems, information technology, math, or physics.
  • 8+ years of experience with MS SQL server we highly encourage to apply.
  • Proven schema design skills.
  • Query performance optimization skills.
  • T-SQL coding of all database object types (SPs, UDFs, triggers).
  • Strong interest in new database technologies.
  • Experience with Azure DB resources (Azure SQL Server, Azure SQL Managed Instance, etc.) and high availability architectures.
  • Advanced expert coding knowledge that enables them to create front and back-end code strings for data infrastructure.
  • Values constructive feedback and uses it to adjust their designs to maximize data.
  • Excellent Data and Time Management skills to allow them to adhere to ECX deadlines.
  • Familiar with tools related to data (migration, warehousing, modeling as well as integration) and database design.
  • Knowledge in application development in .NET/C#
  • Knowledge of containerization and orchestration technologies (e.g., Docker, Kubernetes) for database solutions.

US Salary Range

$150,000—$170,000 USD
