Role : SQL Database Lead /Architect

Location: New York City, NY


We are seeking a dedicated SQL Database Lead /Architect with exceptional data modeling skills to join our technology team. The ideal candidate will be a highly skilled professional in SQL development and data structuring, with a strong foundation in building scalable and efficient data solutions. While expertise in cloud technologies and reporting tools would be advantageous, the core focus of this role is on SQL development and data modeling.

Responsibilities:

  • Develop and optimize advanced SQL queries and procedures to facilitate complex data retrieval, analysis, and manipulation.
  • Design and maintain data models that accurately reflect business and system requirements, ensuring optimal performance.
  • Evaluate existing database structures and implement enhancements to improve database integrity, performance, and efficiency.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to understand data needs and translate business requirements into technical solutions.
  • Implement and maintain data warehousing solutions, utilizing cloud-based technologies such as Redshift and S3 when applicable.
  • Integrate SQL databases with various data sources and applications, considering the use of Kafka streaming, Glue, and Lambda for data processing and workflow automation.
  • Employ reporting tools like PowerBI, Cognos, or Tableau to develop dashboards and reports that provide actionable insights to business users.
  • Document all aspects of database design, development processes, and data flow within the system.
  • Maintain an understanding of the latest trends in SQL development, data modeling, and cloud technologies to suggest and implement best practices.

Qualifications:

  • Proven experience in SQL development and data modeling, with a strong portfolio demonstrating past work and successes.
  • Solid understanding of relational database concepts, data warehousing principles, and ETL processes.
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving abilities, with meticulous attention to detail.
  • Strong communication skills, with the ability to convey complex data concepts to non-technical stakeholders.
  • Ability to prioritize tasks, manage time effectively, and deliver projects on schedule.

Nice to Have:

  • Experience with AWS cloud services, including Quicksight, Redshift, S3, RDS, Kafka streaming, Glue, and Lambda.
  • Proficiency in implementing and managing reporting solutions using PowerBI, Cognos, or Tableau.
  • Familiarity with Agile development methodologies and version control systems.
