Drug Diversion Analyst

Responsibilities

GENERAL PURPOSE:

Supports the development of methods for data collection, analysis, and reporting for Drug Diversion team. Analyzes and interprets data using statistical techniques. Assists with the creation of presentations and reports based on findings, which includes collating, modeling, interpreting and analyzing data. Collects data requirements, analyzes and determines technical issues, and design ad-hoc reports.

Provide analytical support, actionable data, and operational/tactical recommendations to the Controlled Substance Diversion Officer (CSDO) as it relates to controlled substances handling and drug diversion detection and prevention. The position will also assist in the development and delivery of education for pharmacy, nursing, and providers.

JOB DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Reconciles controlled substances dispenses daily utilizing BD Diversion software, BD Pyxis data, and/or EPIC eMAR data as appropriate. Communicates found discrepancies to involved person(s) and supervisory personnel as appropriate. Logs discrepancy and responses to discrepancies communication. Assists with tracking and compiling of comprehensive business metric data for evaluating effectiveness of programs, processes, or practices. Protects and ensures confidentiality of data per applicable policies and procedures (i.e. HIPPA etc.). Assists with building business solutions based on data.
  • Creates and manages routine and ad hoc reports related to controlled substances handling and/or drug diversion. Analyzes data and identifies trends for independent identification of suspicious activity. Collects requirements and designs reports to meet data analysis needs.
  • Completes full medication handling audit of users, as assigned, including in-depth review of medication handling and documentation utilizing BD Diversion software, BD Pyxis data, and EPIC data as appropriate. Completion of audit summary template form as assigned including opinion on the likelihood that diversion has occurred. Assists in the preparation of detailed documentation and/or reporting, in the case of external audit. Supports audit process and assists with compilation of required documentation.
  • Creates and presents controlled substances education to hospital staff and departmental leadership.
  • Assists in the development of standard operating procedures, process maps, code manuals and project plans for all major reporting projects, as needed.

QUALIFICATIONS:

Required:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in statistical analysis, data base management, or related discipline
  • 1 year of experience with data analysis or customer resource management systems
  • Equivalent combination of education and experience
  • Strong attention to detail
  • Strong organizational, data analysis and problem-solving skills

Preferred:

  • Familiarity with statistics and statistical analysis
  • Advanced knowledge of Microsoft Excel
  • Ability to visually portray data
  • Familiarity with BD Pyxis and EPIC
  • Strong verbal and written communication

Pay Range

Pay Range: $44,419 - $62,186 Annually

The referenced pay range represents the minimum and maximum compensation for this job. Individual annual salaries/hourly rates will be set within the job’s compensation range, and will be determined by considering factors including, but not limited to, market data, education, experience, qualifications, expertise of the individual, and internal equity considerations.
