Employee will work with other techs to ensure they are proficient with equipment and protocols and that they know the layout of the hospital. This is a very busy CT department with high volume.

Position Purpose:

Under the direction of the radiologist, performs appropriate diagnostic exams and studies to ensure safe, highquality

patient care.

of the position]

Evaluation and Implementation of Appropriate Care

  • Under the direction of the Radiologist and the Arizona Department of Health Services (AZDHS),

administers ionizing radiation for the purpose of diagnosis which includes positioning the x-ray beam

with respect to the patient, anatomically positioning the patient, selecting exposure factors, and initiating

exposure.

  • Uses professional judgment to adapt imaging procedures to ensure quality diagnostic outcomes.
  • After reviewing all pertinent data and assessing the patients abilities and condition, selects the most

appropriate patient care plan.

  • Selects appropriate shielding devices and appropriate immobilization devices.
  • Evaluates lab values prior to administering contrast media.
  • Assesses factors that may contraindicate the procedure, such as medications or insufficient patient

preparation.

  • Reconfirms patient identification using two unique identifiers (Name and DOB) and verifies procedure

requested. Verifies patient pregnancy status when appropriate.

  • Able to recognize significant clinical information and historical facts, from the patient and from the

medical record, which may impact the examination.

  • Monitors patient and equipment during procedures, accurately documents exam times (start and stop),

patient reactions or problems, and reports concerns or issues immediately to supervisor.

  • Documents patient and exam occurrences in the appropriate Imaging software database, to include exam

start and complete times.

Quality of Care

  • The technologist provides evidence-based care so as to prevent the development of a Healthcare Acquired

Condition and hospital readmissions.

  • The technologist practices standard precautions during patient contact and while handling contaminated

materials.

  • The technologist complies with CDC hand hygiene guidelines and works to reduce hospital acquired

infections and other conditions.

  • Comply with all regulatory, organizational, and departmental statutes, policies, and procedures.

evidence-based behaviors when taking care of patients. Shows empathy care to patients and family

members present.

  • Actively helps the department meet the identified Patient Satisfaction goal.
  • Demonstrates regular attendance and participation at scheduled department and team meetings. Absences

must be communicated as soon as practically possible.

  • Ensures all licensure, competencies, training, and education are completed in a timely manner.
  • Participates in and encourage continuous process improvement.

Current CT registration and licensure by the Arizona Department of Health Services (AZDHS) ? Current registration and licensure by the American Registry of Radiological Technologists (ARRT) ? Education preferred from an educational institution approved by ARRT, Joint Review Committee on

Education in Radiologic Technology (JCERT), or the American College of Radiology (ACR).

Exposure Category I: Expected duties have routine potential for exposure to blood, body fluids or tissues.

Other potential hazards: exposure to chemical, biological, and radioactive substances; possible exposure to

Physical Demands And Work Requirements

  • Able to handle multiple priorities simultaneously.
  • Effective oral and written communication skills, compliant with KHI vision, mission, and values.
  • Able to manage technical business equipment i.e. phone, fax, computer etc.
  • Able to assist with the movement/manipulation of a patient and equipment weighing up to and over 300

lbs.

  • Able to care for patients with infectious diseases.
  • Able to sit, stand, walk, and bend for the duration of the scheduled shift.
  • Able to demonstrate concentration and visual and auditory acuity to watch monitors and follow
