Description for Crisis Clinician: Seeking an experienced professional to provide crisis intervention services for individuals and their families. Work hours are non-traditional and allow for flexibility. Work site is the WCMHS site Building C in Berlin, but outreach visits to all parts of Washington County and sections of Orange County are expected. Full-time position, 40 hours per week with benefits.
A Successful Crisis Clinician will have the following Skills: The successful candidate will possess an awareness of mental health, developmental disabilities, and social services systems. Specific skills include:
Ability to work on-site in emergency room, mental health inpatient units, police stations, courts, schools and in people’s homes
Ability to perform risk assessments and make appropriate referrals
Decision making in high stress environments where priorities may rapidly change.
Excellent verbal and written communication skills. Experience with de-escalation techniques highly preferred.
Ability to work with peer networks
Through training and experience in the first six months, candidate will possess clinical skills for recommendation to the State of Vermont for Qualified Mental Health Professional status
Qualifications for a Crisis Clinician:
BA in human services or related field required. Master’s degree preferred.
3-5 years’ experience in mental health services with a diverse population
Ability to work non-traditional work hours.
Willing to use own vehicle for business purposes
Must have a valid driver’s license, possess an excellent driving record, and have access to a safe, reliable, insured vehicle
Physical Requirements:
Ability to move through an office setting with or without accommodation.
Ability to switch from sitting to standing with or without accommodation.
Ability to drive a vehicle through a community setting without accommodation.
Ability to lift and carry up to 20 pounds without accommodation.
