JOB SUMMARY

Investigates criminal cases and determines courses of action for a complete and thorough investigation. Enforces federal, state, and local laws. Participates in planning of programs, policies or objectives for own work group and the department. Secures arrest and search warrants as necessary and assists with apprehension of wanted persons and fugitives.

DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES

Duties will include but are not limited to

  • Review case reports and establish a plan of action to thoroughly investigate the case.
  • Conduct investigations of assigned cases.
  • Develop, locate, and interview witnesses and victims. Take written and/or


recorded statements, and verify the accuracy of statements.

  • Identify, collect and maintain the chain of custody for evidence in assigned


cases.

  • Seize stolen property and schedule hearings for property disposition.
  • Manage inactive cases for future leads.
  • Present completed cases to the district attorney for prosecution, and


document all aspects of the investigation in written reports.

  • Testifies before Grand Jury and at Criminal Court proceedings.
  • Complete other duties as assigned by Supervisor.


REQUIREMENTS

  • High School diploma/GED and Basic TCOLE Peace Officer Certification. Three (3) years, paid


experience as a Peace Officer.

  • Must possess a valid Texas driver's license.
  • Strong computer, verbal and written communication, and


organizational skills.

  • Strong interpersonal skills and ability to deal effectively with the public,


other employees and elected officials.

  • Annual TCOLE approved Firearms Qualifications
  • Must maintain all requirements to be licensed as a peace officer under TCOLE rules. Must successfully


complete assigned specialized training associated with the particular duty assignment.

  • Proficient in a second language or possessing multilingual skills is preferred.


SALARY RANGE $34.11 per hour.

JOB SUMMARY

Responsible for the design, deployment, maintenance and administration of highly complex network systems and applications in support of local and wide area networks which support all county data systems, web and voice technology. Is a key resource in implementing and integrating new network based technology. Participates in planning of programs, policies or objectives for own work group and department.

  • Participates in the design of Fort Bend County's local, wide area and wireless hardware and software network infrastructure, support both data and voice over IP traffic.
  • Perform or oversee network installations.
  • Maintain, proactively monitor and document all county networks, VLANs and routing configurations using advanced Cisco, equipment, network operating systems and networking protocols.
  • Performs advanced diagnostics, identifies, analyzes, and initiates resolutions as third level support of all LAN/WAN in support of both local and remote network connectivity devices.
  • Recommends and implements LAN/WAN policies and standards to ensure adherence to approved security and disaster recovery procedures.
  • Work with outside vendor services to ensure that support contracts are adhered to and services are provided in an efficient and timely manner.
  • Administer proactive network security measures through the use of advanced Cisco Adaptive Security Appliances and other advanced Enterprise level equipment as appropriate.
  • Research and recommend technology in support of long-range network capacity planning to assist IT management in planning for future needs in hardware, software and service acquisition to maintain acceptable service levels for customers.
  • On call 24 hours per day, 7 days per week to respond to network related problems and outages.
  • Participates in activities and duties related to emergency management during a local state of disaster as directed by appropriate county managers.
  • High School Diploma/GED; Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science related field.
  • (High School/GED and four years of relevant professional experience may be substituted for the Bachelor's Degree.)
  • 5 years hands-on experience configuring and managing Cisco switches, routers and firewalls.
  • Advanced Network knowledge of Cisco technology, protocols and security systems in a converged network environment which encompasses local, wide area, wireless and VoIP applications.
  • Strong verbal and written communications skills; interpersonal skills and ability to deal effectively with the public, vendors, other employees and elected officials.
  • Cisco Certified Network Associate (CCNA) or Cisco Certified Design Associate (CCDA) preferred.


SALARY RANGE $38.90 - $48.62 per hour based upon qualifications
