As a Crime Analyst, you play an important role within the Police Department. The successful applicant will be researching, compiling, and analyzing data from a wide range of sources. You will support investigations, offer operational and strategic support, and ultimately contribute to the public safety and crime reduction efforts within the community.

Duties
What You'll Do
- Research, compile and analyze data from a variety of public and law enforcement sources including crime reports, parolee and probation information, arrest data, modus operandi information, field interview cards, citation information and other crime related and open source data; subject data to statistical tests, develop and test hypotheses and write conclusions of findings in a manner which adheres to commonly accepted criminal justice research standards.
- Identify and analyze crime data to compile information for law enforcement use on crime series, patterns and trends and disseminate information to officers for tactical use; use crime analysis techniques to perform victim and suspect profiling on crime series and on long term investigations.
- Participate in major case investigations and multi-agency task forces; assemble, coordinate and analyze reports and evidence to help investigative efforts; create data tracking matrices, association matrices and prepare telephone toll analysis, hierarchical analysis, visual investigation analysis, link analysis and financial analysis.
- Provide analytical support to operational divisions within department for strategic and tactical decisions based on needs and/or requests; assist in planning and establishing patrol priorities.
- Develop and maintain liaisons with other criminal justice personnel within and outside the department; train, advise and educate department staff and members of the public on crime analysis and philosophy.
Qualifications
What We're Looking For:
- Two (2) years of experience in crime analysis or intelligence analysis; preferably in a law enforcement or military agency.
- Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university with major course work in criminal justice, computer sciences, human behavior, statistics, business administration, public administration or a related field.
- Possession of, or ability to obtain, a valid Colorado driver's license.

- Any felony investigation or conviction
- Any conviction for a crime of violence, specifically assaults, domestic violence, etc.
- Any conviction for a "hate crime" such as ethnic intimidation
- Perjury conviction
- Any theft conviction regardless of value of item
- Theft from current employer or a previous employer
- Drug use (including marijuana) and/or current alcohol abuse
- An alcohol or drug conviction including but not limited to DUI/DWAI, depending on recency
- Hit and run accident conviction
- Being under or having been under driving restraint, cancelation, suspension or revocation of driving privileges in Colorado or any other state
