Our client is a private equity and structured credit fund with offices in Colorado and New York. The firm seeks to invest between $20 to $300 million in companies across a variety of verticals. The team provides structure growth capital to support the long-term growth of companies it chooses to partner with.
ASSOCIATE ROLE:
The Pre-MBA Associate works directly with the rest of the investment team to support the firm’s investment decisions through detailed analysis of technologies & services, markets, and companies. The ideal candidate will have outstanding character, experience working in small teams, a willingness and ability to take initiative, and the ability to lead investment diligence and monitor processes. Two or more years of experience in investment banking will be required. The Pre-MBA Associate must utilize financial tools and unique information sources to develop a model which supports the valuation of a potential investment and participate as a member of the team evaluating the opportunity. Given the small teams and a large pipeline of potential investment opportunities, the right candidate should expect to get a lot of deal repetitions through conducting due diligence on new companies in a variety of different industry verticals.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
Construct financial models to evaluate potential investment opportunities
Perform due diligence and provide recommendations to investment team members related to investments
Participate and/or lead calls with Key Opinion Leaders, Physicians, Industry-Leaders, Investment Banks, Venture-Capital/Private Equity Firms, and Board Members
Coordinate with external consultants and legal counsel for transaction execution
Actively participate in investment team meetings and the analysis process
Perform special research projects on an ad-hoc basis
Monitor and report on new and existing investments
Assist in fund-investor and investment meetings as requested
Prepare materials for partnership and investor annual meetings
Attend industry conferences and trade shows and prepare summary analyses of trends and opportunities
Assist in fundraising efforts and preparing offering documents and presentations
QUALIFICATIONS:
College degree required with an exceptional academic track record
2+ years of relevant experience in investment banking
Ability to multi-task
Experience working with market/financial models
Excellent analytical and presentation skills
Excellent excel modeling skills
Excellent oral and written communication skills
Planning, organization, and time management skills are mandatory
Works well with a variety of individuals and is a team player
