Credit and Receivables Associate

Job Description

Hearst Television Charlotte is looking for a Credit & Collections Associate to support the Billing & Collections department. You will be responsible for supporting the credit and collections department by performing various tasks related to credit risk assessment, accounts receivable management, and customer payment collections. Your primary goal is to help maintain optimal cash flow by minimizing bad debt risk and ensuring timely payment from customers, while preserving positive relationships with clients. You will report to the Credit & Collections Director.

Responsibilities:

  • Assist with the assessment of creditworthiness of potential and existing customers by gathering and analyzing financial information.
  • Conduct credit reviews and recommend credit limit adjustments in accordance with company policies.
  • Monitor and maintain accounts receivable portfolio for assigned customer accounts.
  • Engage customers via phone calls, emails or letters to request payment and resolve past due accounts.
  • Document all collection activities and maintain accurate records of customer interactions and account updates.
  • Collaborate with sales to resolve disputes or discrepancies related to billing and payment.
  • Generate periodic reports detailing accounts receivable status, collection progress, and risk exposure.
  • Ensure compliance with credit control procedures and participate in improving these procedures to reduce the days sales outstanding (DSO) metric.
  • Assist in reaching departmental goals for collections and credit management.

Requirements:

  • Prior experience in credit, collections, or a related financial role.
  • Strong communication and negotiation skills, with an aptitude for customer service.
  • Detail-oriented approach with strong organizational and time management skills.
  • Ability to manage both internal and external relationships effectively.
  • Ability to work independently as well as part of a team in a fast-paced environment.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite with a focus on excel, WideOrbit (preferred) or other sales management systems.
  • Associate Degree in Business or a related field is a plus.
  • Related military experience will be considered.
