CREATIVE DIRECTOR

There’s a reason HUNTER is recognized as one of America’s Most Loved Workplaces and has been named PRovoke “Consumer Agency of the Year” not once, but twice: At HUNTER, we EARN IT — consumer attention, the trust and loyalty of clients, and the dedication of our staff, currently 260+ strong and counting

You’re a curious, nimble, and versatile creative. You’re ready to take an idea from the strategic or conceptual phase and turn it into a killer client presentation. You can give direction to other creatives but also execute your own ideas. You’re a creative problem solver through and through.

We want you to challenge convention and even your own creativity to produce work that’s thumb-stopping, clever, funny, and creates impact for our clients. You live for creating work the world wants to talk about. You must be able to work confidently and effectively across a variety of industries, ranging from food/beverage and culinary to health/beauty/wellness as well as tech, retail, and fashion. You’re a collaborator and adapt to different work styles.

You’ll be responsible for driving the agency’s best-in-class ideation processes and concepting big ideas/creative recommendations that meet strategic objectives. You will sit on our Specialty Leadership Team (SLT) and report into the Executive Creative Director.

EXPECTATIONS FOR SUCCESS

  • Think Big: Champion the development of on-strategy, executable ideas and campaigns that are rooted in research, insights, or a cultural tension.
  • Innovate: Inspire staff to think differently and more effectively. Research and introduce new ideation practices and staff trainings that lead us to big ideas, resulting in creating “Work That Matters”. Regularly share resources with staff (newsletters, book recommendations, trainings) to keep the importance of creativity top-of-mind.
  • Keep Up – You stay updated as to what’s going on in the world around you. You’re engaged with and have a nuanced understanding of both contemporary culture and current events. Your finger is on the pulse of what's current and emerging and you participate actively in conversations (and even trends) across various platforms. You know enough AI to be dangerous. You’re always looking for the next big thing.
  • Think Strategically: Collaborate with Insights team/MDs to determine what information is needed to help shape ideation sessions and brainstorms. Work along account teams to gain clarity and tighten up creative briefs.
  • Win New Business: Participate in new business presentations/pitches, play a lead role with clients, galvanize a room, and establish credibility as a creative expert.
  • Lead by Example: Serve as a role model for young leaders/peers who aspire to hold leadership positions within the agency. Be available to coach them as they lead ideation sessions on their own.
  • Operate with a DEI lens:Be culturally sensitive and challenge how our creative recommendations could impact diverse audiences. Consult with internal and external experts to ensure we’re being representative, culturally mindful, and inclusive.
  • Seek Different Perspectives: Assemble staff teams of different levels, backgrounds, expertise, and points of view, spanning our NY, London, and LA offices, to uphold our “Better Together” agency value.

QUALIFICATIONS

  • At least 8-12 years of relevant experience, preferably in an agency setting.
  • Demonstrated examples of high caliber creative work where you specifically lead the transformation of strategic thinking into best-in-class creative work.
  • Relevant agency experience in concept development, art direction and/or copywriting within an integrated marketing, creative, advertising or PR agency setting.
  • Ability to craft and deliver presentations that sell ideas and expand client relationships.
  • Ability to build and lead a team of art directors, copywriters, creators, and designers, while also effectively collaborating with other internal and external teams
  • Ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines in a fast-paced environment.

In order to comply with equal pay and salary transparency laws in various locations, the Company believes the target range of base compensation for this role is $140,000 - $170,000. Actual compensation is influenced by a wide array of factors including but not limited to skill set, level of experience, and location.

At HUNTER, we work hard and play hard, and while we have all the benefits you’d expect —competitive health and dental insurance plans, a 401K company match and generous PTO — we also provide:

  • a hybrid work model;
  • a “work from anywhere in the US” policy (up to four weeks a year);
  • a year-round staff training and development curriculum; and
  • a staff-led Action Group dedicated to DEI excellence in the agency and industry (read our DEI statement here: https://hunterpr.com/dei/)
