This role is part of Blue Origin Operations, which is comprised of Integrated Supply Chain, Facilities, and Security. This includes Manufacturing and Supply Chain support across all Blue Origin facilities.

As part of a hardworking team of diverse specialists, technicians, and engineers you will contribute to the safe execution of crane operations at the Kent Manufacturing Site. As a Crane Operations Manager will be responsible for adhering to internal and external regulations and delegating portions of your authority to satellite sites that make up the Kent Manufacturing Campus. You will be responsible for driving a program towards zero crane related incidents and setting a foundation for operational excellence. You will share in the team’s impact on all aspects of organization, protection, and optimization of hardware flow through our factory. This role requires effective communication skills, a safety mind set, pristine attention to detail, and an eye for creating production scalable lifting solutions. You will need to be a self-directed and driven candidate that can take general direction from Operations Senior Leadership. You will be intimately involved with all crane operations at the Kent Manufacturing Site and should have a high level of clarity and involvement on all critical lifts within your span or delegated span of control.

Responsibilities Included But Not Limited To

Ensuring the successful execution of Blue Origin’s Crane Safety Program.

Processing requests/providing approval for Crane Operator Training requests.

Monitoring Crane Operator performance and, where needed, revoking certification.

Ensuring monthly and annual crane inspections are being performed by the Facilities Department for their specific site.

Scheduling and performing or delegating the performance of below the hook lifting equipment

Inspections As Required By Manufacturer, Internal, Or Range Requirements.

Conducting or delegating crane on the job trainings for new and requalified Crane Operators.

Evaluating this Safety Standard’s effectiveness and recommending changes via the recurring Crane Safety Working Group meetings.

Designating, with area management approval, the application of a Critical Lift Environment.

Recommending and supporting routine and non-routine audits of crane operations by EHS.

Performing signatory duties for Lift Director or Competent Person on a Critical Lift Form.

Ensuring an adequate number of Qualified Crane Operators are available to meet current and future needs for certain areas within Blue Origin Manufacturing, Test, and Launch Operations facilities.

All below the hook lifting equipment inspections to include annual and re-proofing of lifting devices for the entire Kent Site.

Providing Training Certifications for personnel on Powered Industrial Trucks, Lifts, and Booms

Oversee Safety Briefings prior to performing critical/high consequence operations.

Oversee contractors performing high consequence operations while in Blue Origin Facilities

Collaborate with Operations Compliance Personnel

Making sure all crane documentation adheres to our BLUE ORIGIN CRANE SAFETY PROGRAM

Minimum Qualifications

Certified Lift director

Certified Critical Lift Operator

Advanced rigging experience

Proficient in performing critical lift calculations.

Lifting/Rigging gear inspection knowledge

Experience Leading safety briefings for critical/high consequence operations

A healthy respect for performing critical lift operations and oversight for large, heavy, and odd-shaped pieces of hardware.

Excellent communication skill – verbal, written and presentation.

Must be a U.S. citizen or national, U.S. permanent resident (current Green Card holder), or lawfully admitted into the U.S. as a refugee or granted asylum.

Preferred Qualifications

Educational background in Industrial Safety

Aerospace background with experience handling high value aerospace components.

Experienced working in a Lean Manufacturing, 5S, and AS9110 environment

Compensation range for onsite WA applicants is $43.37-$59,67

Other site ranges may differ.
