We are looking for a Cost Engineer to improve and iterate comprehensive cost models for cathode active material manufacturing, and create materials demonstrating our cost-down roadmap and improvement capabilities to investors, customers, and joint venture partners as we scale.

Responsibilities:

  • Develop comprehensive cost models for Cathode Active Material and precursor manufacturing (CAM and pCAM)
  • Estimate new plant investment cost and optimize as additional FEED and equipment information is available
  • Identify and estimate impact of novel cost-reduction projects and track progress
  • Analyze CapEx project costs and variances against budget allocations, identifying areas for cost optimization and improvement
  • Assess capital project costs and collaborate with EPC firms
  • Present cost roadmaps to key stakeholders such as executives, investors, customers and regulators
  • Inform pricing strategy in multiple international markets
  • Develop should-cost models for customers who will build our cathode materials into battery cells
  • Collaborate with project teams to develop cost reduction strategies and implement cost-saving initiatives
  • Evaluate costs related to raw materials, labor, construction, capital projects, energy and shipping
  • Evaluate market potential and investment opportunity
  • Conduct risk analysis to identify potential cost risks and develop mitigation strategies to minimize financial impacts

Basic Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Finance, or related field
  • 3+ years of experience in Cost Engineering and cost modeling
  • Strong analytical skills with the ability to develop and maintain cost estimation models
  • Expertise in specialty chemical or hard tech products
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills

Desired Qualifications::

  • Experience at a specialty chemicals company
  • Experience as a Cost Engineer at a major OEM automaker or EPC contractor
  • Strategic experience at a LIB battery cell manufacturing company

The following represents the expected range of compensation for this role:

  • The estimated base salary range for this role is $140,000-$185,000
  • Additionally, this role is eligible to participate in a bonus and equity plan
