Qualifications

  • Bachelors degree in Occupational Health and Safety, Industrial Hygiene, Environmental Science, or a related field. Equivalent experience in a construction safety related position will also be considered.
  • Ten years of documented field safety experience as a Construction Safety Professional.
  • A professional certification is required (CSP, CIH, PE, Etc).
  • Working knowledge of U.S. Army Corps of Engineers Safety Manual EM 385 1-1, and Bureau of Reclamation Standards.
  • Working knowledge of Federal and State OSHA Construction Standards.
  • OSHA 500, OSHA 510, OSHA 521 Course completion a plus.
  • Strong leadership, interpersonal and communication skills required.
  • Strong computer skills – Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.


Responsibilities

  • Works independently and must demonstrate a thorough knowledge of the Corporation, its organiza­tional structure and philosophy as well as a thorough knowledge of the engineering and construction industries, safety occupational health regulations.
  • Reports directly to the CEO of the Company.
  • Exercises administrative control over field safety personnel and operations.
  • Formulates and promulgates policies, standards and procedures.
  • Administers all phases of Corporate-wide safety and accident prevention programs as they apply to employee safety and health, public safety, equipment and property protection and industrial hygiene.
  • Provides technical advice to management and engineering personnel for problems related to safety, accident prevention and industrial hygiene.
  • Provide assistance to field safety educators and project management team members to ensure compliance with all safety, health, accident investigation, and fire programs, procedures and policies.
  • Represent company in all OSHA compliance inspections.
  • Organize and help implement the site safety incentive programs.
  • Investigate or coordinate the investigation of any injuries that take place at the site of the construction project which result in death or bodily injury.
  • Conduct regular inspections of the site of the construction project to identify potential safety hazards and ensure that minimum standards of safety are being observed.
