Corporate Controller

Join the accounting department of a renowned literature company as their newest hybrid remote Corporate Controller in Cos Cob, CT.

Corporate Controller Requirements:

  • BA/BS in Accounting or Finance, CPA license a plus.
  • A minimum of 10-12 years of relevant finance / accounting experience.
  • Experience with ERP system required. Sage Intacct experience, a plus.
  • Strong understanding of SOX/ internal controls.
  • Strong Excel skills, along with proficiency in all MS Office applications.
  • Possess excellent analytical, organizational, time management, and strong communication skills (both written and verbal); able to respond quickly and accurately to data requests and provide outstanding customer service.
  • Demonstrated ability to build relationships and effectively communicate with peers, subordinates, and senior management.

Corporate Controller Responsibilities:

  • Accountable for maintaining accounting books and records, preparing financial statements in accordance with US GAAP, managing subsidiary trial balances, and overseeing month-end close and reporting.
  • Prepare and manage monthly accruals with the operating, finance, AP teams, and business partners to ensure proper month-end cutoff and expense capture.
  • Assist in preparing quarterly reviews and annual audit schedules and manage the annual audit process for reporting and external auditors.
  • Analyze intercompany account balances, investigate out-of-balance variances, and determine correct intercompany and elimination journal entries for consolidation.
  • Perform financial statement analytics, provide relevant explanations for fluctuations, and present financial results, budgets, and forecasts to senior management.
  • Coordinate and manage tax filings, including Partner K1 statements, and address mail and digital notices related to garnishments, tax levies, and state tax notices.
  • Improve departmental processes to expedite the close process, ensure accuracy of financial information, mentor financial staff, and support management with reporting and special projects.
