Position Overview: Controller

Reporting to the Chief Financial Officer, the Controller will support the accounting and financial needs of the company. This position involves managing the transactional and general accounting teams, including the month-end close process, maintaining accurate financials, serving as the primary interface with auditors and tax advisors, and providing leadership and skills development to direct and indirect reports. This role will communicate with others in a wide range of positions, both internal and external, to gather and interpret information to ensure accurate financial reporting.

Key Responsibilities:

• Hands-on in the day-to-day general and transactional accounting activities while overseeing and managing 8-10 team members within the Controllership organization.
• Drive the monthly financial close process to adhere to the close schedule and lender reporting requirements, including the review and approval of journal entries and account reconciliations.
• Lead in developing and implementing policies, procedures, and controls to monitor and ensure the accuracy of assets, liabilities, and financial reporting.
• Manage and ensure timely delivery of external statutory audits and tax compliance.
• Prepare special reports by collecting, analyzing, and summarizing information and trends.
• Comply with federal, state, and local legal requirements by studying existing and new legislation; anticipating future legislation; enforcing adherence to requirements; filing financial reports; advising management on needed actions.
• Ensure the preparation of high-integrity financial statements and KPIs by orienting the accounting team towards asking questions and understanding the business.
• Lead implementation of new consolidations tool and other accounting projects as assigned.
• Work and lead multiple workstreams across the Accounting and Finance team.
• Lead development and strategy of FICO strategy within ERP system.

Experience/Qualifications:

• 10+ years of corporate accounting experience with consistent career progression.
• Experience in consumer products manufacturing preferred.
• Experience working within a private equity environment.
• Strong working knowledge of US GAAP.
• Ability to lead and develop a team with members of varying experience levels.
• Outgoing personal style, comfortable engaging with others at all levels, both internally and externally.
• Experience collaborating with external auditors and stakeholders.
• Experience with preparation of multi-entity consolidated financial statements is required.
• Unquestionable integrity, credibility, and character with a high energy level, a strong work ethic, and a passion for work.
• Advanced skills in Excel and PowerPoint, and proficiency with ERPs/business intelligence tools.
• Active or working towards a CPA or MBA is required.
