Corporate Controller

DATTCO is searching for a Corporate Controller to join our team in New Britain, CT. This position provides accounting and financial leadership to the company with a primary focus on policy and internal controls, financial reporting and planning, systems oversight and balance sheet management. This position also ensures prompt payment of all federal and state taxes as well as reporting and compliance. Direct reports include the Accounting Manager, Payroll Manager and Senior Accountant.

Primary Responsibilities

• Ensures accurate recordkeeping of all accounting and finance transactions
• Determines or reviews and approves accounting entries for various transactions
• Prepares and analyzes consolidated month-end balance sheet and income statement
• Produces comparative analysis to budget, forecast and other management reports
• Maintains fixed asset records
• Prepares and maintains schedules and workpapers for balance sheet accounts
• Ensures accurate recording and payment of all federal and state tax reporting and compliance
• Establish and monitor internal controls and safeguards
• Writes, implements and monitors adherence to financial policies
• Assesses internal controls for adequacy
• Develops processes for consistent internal controls
• Coordinates certain activities with external CPA firm as needed
• Perform financial reporting and analyses
• Works with CFO to determine information and analysis needs
• Provides financial analysis for current operations and new business initiatives
• Provides implications, insights, alternatives and recommendations
• Determines, monitors and analyzes key performance indicates such as bank covenants
• Perform financial planning including budgets and forecasts
• Develops annual budgets and required forecasts with assistance from divisional controllers
• Presents actual financial results compared to approved budgets and forecasts providing insights, alternative plans and recommendations
• Has oversight for cash balances and activity
• Monitors cash balances
• Provides periodic cash forecasts
• Has oversight for systems related to account transactions and recordkeeping
• Participates in systems decisions, implementations and operations
• Proactively assesses business system needs
  

Position Requirements

• College degree in accounting, finance or business
• Minimum of five years’ experience as controller working for organization(s) having multiple businesses, locations and/or businesses with at least $50 million in revenue
• Strong interpersonal skills

Preferred Qualifications

• Advanced college degree in accounting, finance or business
