Safal Partners is seeking a part-time detail-oriented Copyeditor with capabilities to finalize documents that meet our client’s needs. This person will work collaboratively with a team(s) on various K—12 Mathematics, English Language Reading and Arts (ELAR) and Spanish Language Reading and Arts (SLAR) product reports. The ideal candidate for this position is creative, highly organized, able to multitask and prioritize tasks, works on tight deadlines, has a collaborative work ethic, and is flexible with ongoing changes from internal management and external clients. Additionally, the candidate should be technologically savvy.
This position will serve as a part-time, project-based writer and editor with knowledge of 508 compliance, primarily supporting the Education Practice in a multi-year Texas Education Agency contract. The editor will be an integrated team member within the overall project team that finalizes the report deliverables and will report to the Task Lead overseeing the quality assurance of the deliverables.
Duties and Responsibilities:
Edit, rewrite, and write technical and nontechnical text to prepare compelling documents
Serve as editor and writer of final product reports as outlined in the contract
Edit writing of deliverables for style, grammar, punctuation, content, spelling, readability, and clarity
Work as part of a team with subject matter experts, analysts, project managers, executives, and other writers, designers, etc.
Required Qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree in English, Journalism, Communications, or related programs of study
At least 2 years of directly relevant, similar professional experience
A portfolio of editing and creative work available upon request
Organized and detail-oriented self-starter with strong communication skills
Advanced proficiency in computer skills with products such as Microsoft Office Suite, Google Suite, and common graphics software
Strong grasp of language, including nuance and tone, and ability to adapt writing style to different audiences
Demonstrable editing skills at the organizational, structural, sentence, fact-checking, and proofreading levels, and aligning to 508 accessibility standards
Detail-oriented editing and technical writing expertise
Ability to interact, communicate, and present ideas
Superior problem-solving and communication skills (both verbal and written)
A highly self-motivated work style and willingness to proactively take on projects
Location: Instructional Materials Review and Approval (IMRA) Copy Editor is a part-time, project-based position with remote working arrangements. Candidate must be authorized to work in the United States.
