University Recreation (UREC) is currently seeking applicants for the Coordinator of Sport Clubs. UREC is a Health & Well-being department within the Student Affairs division. The mission of UREC is to promote and advance healthy lifestyles through educational programs, participation opportunities and supportive services. Duties And Responsibilities
Sport Club and Youth Programs:
Coordinate all practices, home competitions and performances for select sport clubs.
Collaborate with the Intramural Sports and Recreation programs to create, schedule and oversee the weekly practice schedule for select sport clubs.
Enter club practices and competitions into Event Management Software.
Maintain club officers key access and checkout.
Assist the Assistant Director of Intramural Sports & Youth Programs with the execution of summer youth programs.
Establish learning outcomes for participants and employees, and conduct at least one learning assessment annually in the sport club area.
Track participation data and conduct needs assessments on a regular basis to inform changes.
Sport Club Officer Training Programming
Coordinate, implement and evaluate a comprehensive Sport Club Officer Training curriculum for the 50+ JMU Sport Clubs.
Develop and facilitate officer trainings to ensure sport club compliance with James Madison University and University Recreations guidelines as they pertain to day-to-day operations, risk management, hazing and off campus travel.
Coordinate student development opportunities for sport club officers through yearly programs to target leadership and personal growth.
Establish learning outcomes for participants and employees, and conduct at least one learning assessment annually.
Track participation data and conduct needs assessments on a regular basis to inform changes.
Staff Supervision
Recruit a talented and diverse student staff.
Provide leadership and mentoring to Sport Club student staff in compliance with all applicable University guidelines.
Schedule and facilitate one-on-one meetings with select club Presidents once a semester to advise and mentor sport club leadership.
Approve payroll and manage student employee budgets.
Facility/Risk Management
Serve as an active member of the Professional Staff Evening Facility and Program Supervision Team.
Ensure a safe, attractive and clean environment in all sport club facility spaces including: UREC gymnasiums, UREC turf, University Park fields, John Carr Field, Godwin Hall, hillside hockey courts, and the memorial softball field. Establish a shared supervision and support schedule between Assistant Director, Coordinator, and Graduate Assistant for all weekend competitions.
Collaborate with the Associate Director of Facilities to establish risk management protocols for all programs and facilities.
Administration And Collaboration
Supervise technology as it relates to the program area.
Work with the Assistant Director for Communications and Engagement and Assistant Director for Member Services to ensure the timely release of information to the JMU community.
Prepare annual budget proposals and manage fiscal resources, recommend and/or requisition purchases for equipment services and supplies.
Collaborate with colleagues in UREC, Student Affairs, and other divisions as appropriate, and is an active member on committees, commissions and task forces as assigned.
Participate in staff meetings and departmental events to support teammates.
Required
Relevant professional or graduate assistant experience
Experience facilitating group training and/or leadership development programs
Strong interpersonal skills and ability to have difficult conversations
Commitment to collaboration and inclusion

Experience creating and facilitating sport club officer training and leadership development programs
Experience scheduling and facilitating sport club recreational events
Highly organized, efficient and effectively utilizes multiple technology platforms
Experience supervising, leading and mentoring college students
