About Us
We are seeking a dedicated Instructional Support Specialist to join our collaborative team focused on enhancing educational opportunities for students with diverse needs. As part of our team, you will play a pivotal role in identifying, implementing, and supporting evidence-based practices to foster student growth and ensure compliance with federal and state regulations.
Role Overview
As a valued member of our Instructional Programming and Support Team, you will contribute to the development and execution of initiatives aimed at supporting students' Individual Educational Programs (IEPs). Your responsibilities will include identifying best practices, providing professional development, and fostering partnerships with stakeholders to promote inclusive education.
Minimum Qualifications
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities (KSAs):
Demonstrated knowledge of state and federal legal requirements pertaining to Individual Education Plans (IEPs)
Familiarity with instructional strategies to support students with disabilities in accessing educational standards
Proficiency in Microsoft Office suite and Google Apps
Strong critical thinking and problem-solving abilities
Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written
Ability to analyze student and teacher performance data and develop effective intervention strategies
Experience in designing and delivering professional development sessions
Capacity to establish and maintain collaborative relationships with diverse stakeholders
Education, Training, And Experience
Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university in special education or a related field
Minimum of five years of teaching experience in special education
Certification And License Requirements
Valid North Carolina Professional Educator's License in Special Education or related area
Valid motor vehicle operator's license with a good driving record
Preferred Qualifications
Master's degree in special education
Leadership experience in program development and evaluation
Familiarity System applications and programs
Experience in job training and development
Understanding of assessment processes for vocational and career planning
Essential Duties And Responsibilities
Collaborate with team members to implement evidence-based practices supporting student growth and IEP compliance
Identify and implement research-based instructional and behavioral strategies, including technology integration
Assist in the development and execution of professional development plans
Stay updated on industry trends and best practices through professional development opportunities
Provide targeted support to special education teachers, particularly new educators
Support IEP and behavior planning meetings as needed
Assist with resource allocation for special education staff
Provide programming and resources to facilitate graduation requirements for students with disabilities
Promote self-determination and transition planning for students
Work Environment/Physical Requirements
This role operates in a professional office environment with occasional visits to schools. Physical demands include light exertion and driving as needed.
