Position Overview:

The Controller leads BuildASign’s accounting function by supporting and developing company-wide accounting policies and controls. This role owns all aspects of financial management including corporate accounting, development of accounting systems and processes, internal reporting, management of audits, tax filings, as well as maintenance and administration of internal control procedures. The Controller works with the CFO and has a high-level of visibility and interaction across the company as a member of BuildASign’s senior leadership team.

Key Responsibilities:

• Ensure policies and procedures comply with professional standards and regulatory requirements.
• Establish and maintain internal controls to support the financial infrastructure and Sarbanes-Oxley compliance.
• Present financial reporting, potential risk areas, and solutions to senior management.
• Oversee accounting, financial reporting, analysis and preparation for the consolidated financial statements, including schedules for tax compliance, and payroll.
• Lead and implement process/system changes and improvements to ensure accurate and timely financial reporting.
• Coach and develop a strong accounting team that can scale with company growth.
• Manage other projects as directed by the CFO.

• Strong leadership skills to manage and coach a team and get buy in from stakeholders.
• Ability to translate business needs into efficient processes. This person should be detail orientated while also seeing the big picture.
• Strong verbal and written communication skills – be able to explain financial concepts in easy-to-understand terms to people at different levels in the organization.
• Passion for a continuously growing and changing environment with the ability to recalibrate as needed (e.g., adjust to new internal reporting needs while maintaining the integrity of the GAAP financials).
• A customer service mentality and tact in dealing with different departments and competing priorities.
• Willingness to roll up your sleeves and be a “doer” as needed.
  
  

Qualifications/Requirements:

• Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting/Finance.
• CPA preferred.
• 7+ years of progressive accounting experience, with Big 4 accounting firm experience a plus.
• 2+ years of people management experience.
• Proficient in NetSuite.
• Highly proficient in Excel.
• Hybrid work/in-office
• Must Reside in Texas
  
  

Preferred Qualifications:

• Background in both public and private companies.
• Experience in the Manufacturing industry.
• Experience interacting with internal and external senior level executives including Audit Committees and Board members.
• Experience leading accounting system development such as ERPs, financial accounting best practices, and internal controls.
