About the Role:

Join us as our Director of Finance and Operations, where you will develop and execute the school-wide finance and operations vision to align with our educational and cultural goals under the guidance of the Head of School and School Principal. You will oversee the budget, employee administration, and student information systems, playing a pivotal role in strategic planning, budget management, and ensuring financial compliance with the Board and external partners.

Day-to-Day Responsibilities:

  • Develops the school-wide finance & operations vision that supports and enables the instructional and cultural vision of the Head of School and School Principal. This includes but is not limited to oversight of the school’s budget, employee administration, and school-wide systems for student information;
  • Plays a leadership role in the school’s strategic and annual planning and budgeting process and actively manages the school budget throughout the year.
  • Manages the school purchasing process by establishing clear systems for staff to request items, placing orders with vendors, tracking delivery, and coding and submitting purchase orders, invoices, and reimbursement requests; approves school purchases under a specific financial threshold.
  • Serves as the first school-based point of contact regarding finance and works with the Board and external Finance partners to ensure financial compliance and reporting.
  • Provides oversight for all operations and logistics (e.g. transportation, meals, security, facility maintenance); Organizes operational support needed for all off-site field trips and all on-site special events.
  • Partners with HR/Principal on the new hire process (e.g. interviews, new hire offer letters, onboarding)
  • Ensures that school staff have complete, current, and accurate employee files and certifications; all personnel interacting with students have background checks on file; and schools comply with all areas of legal compliance.
  • Processes Payroll and manages the benefits administration and enrollment process for all employees.
  • Partners with the Principal to ensure a successful start to the school year by ordering furniture, equipment, and instructional supplies and ensuring student services (e.g., food service, transportation) are ready.
  • Manages the performance, growth, and development of direct reports
  • Leads the performance appraisal process for direct reports, incorporating feedback received from multiple sources;
  • Establishes professional development goals and objectives for direct reports.

Qualifications:

  • 5-7 years of progressive responsibility managing financial accounting and operating budgets (required)
  • Experience working within the School finance software, Quickbooks (required)
  • Bilingual proficiency in Spanish (preferred) Experience working in a diverse school/community setting (preferred);
  • Bachelor’s degree (required); specialization in Accounting, Finance or similar degree program is preferred

Salary $85,000 - $100,000
