Continuous Improvement Manager

Job Description: Manager of Operational Excellence


Educational & Experience Prerequisites:

A Bachelor’s degree in a technical discipline is advantageous.

A minimum of 5 years’ experience in a manufacturing environment.

Certification as a Six Sigma Green Belt is required, with a preference for Black Belt certification.

Proficiency in continuous improvement methodologies, including Kaizen, Kanban, Problem Solving, 5S, Error Proofing, SMED, Team Development, Value Stream Mapping, TPM, and more.


Licenses or Certifications:

Certifications in Lean and PE Black Belt are highly regarded.


Core Purpose of the Role:

The role reports directly to the Plant Manager and is responsible for leading the uniform implementation of key operational improvement initiatives within the facility. The incumbent will be responsible for formulating the strategic plan for operational excellence, encompassing LEAN, Six Sigma, and Plant KPIs.


Key Responsibilities:

-Facilitate the application of Six Sigma methods, Lean Manufacturing techniques, and Kaizen events alongside plant leadership to foster ongoing improvement in a structured and enduring manner.

-Enhance operational efficacy by applying quality enhancements, reducing scrap, and improving

-MUV through the application of scalable DMAIC principles.

-Analyze statistical data to pinpoint areas for business performance enhancement.

-Collaborate with the plant leadership to set objectives and benchmarks for improvements.

-Partner with management to identify improvement areas and develop a comprehensive -Operational Excellence strategy and framework.

-Act as a 5S Leader, conducting regular audits and follow-ups to ensure maintenance of standards.

-Oversee the management of significant improvement programs.

-Deliver training and coaching to plant staff on various continuous improvement tools and initiatives.

-Direct high-impact projects where coaching alone is insufficient due to the problem’s scope and complexity.

-Conduct audits after implementation to confirm that improvements are fully realized, maintained, and delivering the expected benefits.


Required Skills and Abilities:

-Demonstrated success in implementing lean/quality improvement initiatives in an industrial manufacturing context.

-Robust problem-solving capabilities.

-Excellent coaching and instructional skills.

-Insight into team dynamics with the ability to enhance team effectiveness.

-Strong communication skills, with the capacity to manage and mentor for the successful implementation and maintenance of the Operational Excellence process.

-Proficient in program management.


Computer Proficiency:

-Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite (Office, Access, Word, Excel, PowerPoint).

-Familiarity with Minitab is preferred.
