Content Manager

Reporting to the Director of Marketing & Communications, the Content Manager will develop and execute a cutting-edge content strategy that drives engagement, enhances brand loyalty, and amplifies the Hire Heroes USA mission.

As a master storyteller with a keen understanding of the ever-evolving content landscape, the Manager will craft compelling narratives that captivate our key audiences across multiple platforms, including social media, blogs, video, and emerging digital channels. Your deep knowledge of content trends, SEO, and audience behavior will enable you to create impactful, data-driven content that resonates with our diverse audience and positions Hire Heroes USA as a thought leader in veteran employment services. Your efforts will help advance our mission of empowering US military members, veterans, and military spouses to succeed in the civilian workforce.

*This is a full-time, remote position*

Responsibilities:

  • Support the Director of Marketing & Communications in developing and implementing a comprehensive content strategy
  • Manage an editorial calendar; plan content for marketing campaigns, events, and strategic initiatives, optimizing for seasonality and topical relevance
  • Establish and enforce content standards, including style guides, tone of voice, and editorial best practices, ensuring consistency and quality across all platforms
  • Engage audiences through new formats and channels, staying on top of industry trends
  • Monitor content performance using analytics tools providing regular reports on key metrics such as engagement, conversion rates, and ROI
  • Manage high-quality content across various formats, including long-form articles, blog posts, social media updates, video scripts, and infographics tailored to different audience segments and channels
  • Integrate SEO best practices into all content creation processes. Utilize keyword research, on-page optimization, and link-building strategies to enhance content visibility and search engine rankings
  • Support multimedia content creation, coordinating with videographers, graphic designers, and other creative professionals to produce engaging and visually compelling materials
  • Partner with the Digital Marketing Manager to integrate content into broader digital marketing strategies, including PPC campaigns, social media advertising, and email marketing
  • Work closely with the Brand Partnerships Manager to develop co-branded content and support partnership initiatives, ensuring content alignment with partner brands and joint marketing goals
  • Manage relationships with external content creators, including freelance writers, graphic designers, and video producers, ensuring the delivery of high-caliber content that meets strategic objectives

Desired Skills & Qualifications

  • 4+ years of experience in content ideation, development, and distribution
  • Proven track record of creating content that engages audiences and drives brand loyalty
  • Strong analytical skills and a data-driven approach to content strategy
  • Experience managing relationships with external content creators and agencies
  • Familiarity with SEO best practices and digital content optimization
  • Excellent storytelling, writing, and editing skills
  • Experience in the nonprofit sector or with veteran-related content is a plus

Work Environment/Physical Demands

  • General office environment; temperature-controlled
  • Routinely uses standard office equipment, e.g. copiers, phones, computers
  • Travel Required: Up to 10%
  • Sitting for extended periods of time

Estimated New Hire Salary: $65,000 - $70,000 annually

Hire Heroes USA may offer additional compensation to include: Annual bonuses, merit increases, cost of living, special or extra assignments outside scope of the role, cell phone stipend, internet stipend, relocation, awards, compensatory time off, overtime, and gaining knowledge and proficiency through certifications and licensing.
