Open Water was built out of the mission to eliminate the need for plastic bottles and support healthier, cleaner oceans. We were pioneers in the canned water space, launching 10 years ago when there was faaaaar less chatter about plastic pollution than there is today. Nowadays, we all know the scale of the issue and how it's affecting our planet and our bodies. Open Water is distributed across the U.S. where we’ve continued growing quickly—so quickly, in fact, that we need more smart, passionate people to join us.

Overview:


Open Water is looking to hire a Social Media Content Creator. You ideally have a couple years of experience under your belt and a clear understanding of how to say things that makes people pay attention.


You will collaborate closely with the Director of Marketing and Chief Brand Officer to educate our audience on sustainability without making their eyes glaze over. You'll be in the drivers seat, crafting content that will give people a reason to follow us, stay engaged, and continue to care about who Open Water is, what we're doing, and what we have to say.


Here's what we want to hire you to do:


  • Create compelling content to post regularly across all social platforms. Know how to say things in a way that makes people want to pay attention.
  • Write and edit copy for social media posts, ensuring a consistent brand voice and tone.
  • Create visually appealing graphics and short form video, leveraging whatever tools needed to do so (we don't care if you use Canva, Illustrator, or Paint as long as you execute it well).
  • Schedule and publish social media posts.
  • Design and implement monthly, quarterly, and yearly social strategies across multiple channels.
  • Collaborate closely with marketing leadership to plan content, optimize performance, and manage social calendars.
  • Generate monthly reports and analytics.
  • Initiate and cultivate a brand ambassador program, overseeing content creator partnerships.
  • Interact with our online community by engaging with comments and direct messages across all social platforms (Facebook/META, Instagram, TikTok) with a consistent brand voice.


We think it'd be helpful if you had these qualities too:


  • Organized and really good at communicating your ideas.
  • A passion for sustainability, especially as it relates to our oceans.
  • A go-getter, entrepreneurial spirit is helpful. Nobody wants to be micromanaged, and we don't want to spend time micromanaging :)
  • Bachelor’s degree in creative writing or marketing/communications is preferred, but your ability to execute matters most.

Your assignment, should you choose to accept, is to send over 1-2 content ideas for either the oat milk brand Oatly or cereal brand Surreal. You don't need to go shoot any content—just give your vision for the concept with a witty caption.
  2. Tell us a few other brands who you think are doing cool things on social.
