The City of Virginia Beach Public Works Department is hiring a Construction Inspector Supervisor. This position will supervise construction inspector performance to ensure that all new construction is accomplished in compliance with contract documents and City and industry quality standards
Make daily work assignments to ensure timely completion of priority projects including appropriate workload distribution and effective use of available inspectors.
Perform on-site inspections, training and mentoring as necessary to assist inspectors with unusual and/or technically complex problems and to ensure work is in compliance.
Train inspectors in the conduct of inspection and testing methods and procedures and proper record keeping techniques to ensure complete and accurate records are available to the City.
Investigate field inquiries and complaints to prevent these from developing into serious problems and to enhance public relations.
Manage augmented/contract inspection staff assignments and monitor work of such augmented staff.
Assist the engineering staff in its review of construction plans and make recommendations where deficiencies are observed.
Perform other job duties requiring skills, knowledge and physical requirements as demanded by those duties described or less. Individual assignments will be determined by the supervisor based on then current workloads and department needs
