Construction Estimator/Cost Manager

CCS International, Inc. is looking for a Midlevel Construction Estimator experienced in the Architectural, Structural, and Civil Trades Divisions to enhance our team focused on vertical ground-up capital construction projects of all types.

Location: Oakbrook Terrace, Illinois.

Position Summary:

Our Estimators produce cost estimates for a variety of projects from private-sector, public-sector to federal government. Estimators work in concert with and support Senior Cost Managers as assigned and may correspond professionally with architects, engineers and owners for clear understanding of project scope during preparation of estimate. The position develops relationships with members of A/E firms and project team members. Travel to client locations is part of the work environment. The position works under the direct supervision of each Regional Director of Technical Services.

Essential Functions:

• This position requires technical knowledge of the construction industry
• Knowledgeable of commonly-used cost estimating concepts, practices and procedures within the architectural, structural and civil disciplines
• Perform quantity take-offs from drawings and specifications. Knowledgeable in pricing, building costs and manpower rates within local regions
• Use appropriate published cost indices and databases
• Obtain material quotes from vendors
• Participate as part of the project team on cost management - estimating assignments
• Review and analyze change orders

Responsibilities:

• Perform quantity take-offs from drawings and specifications for the A/S/C portion of an estimate and assist in the preparation of mechanical and electrical cost estimates, change order reviews, value engineering issues as it relates to cost management projects when needed.
• Contract Management: Ensure team members working on the Project know their responsibilities and timeframes to perform the task at hand. Ensure that Client has paid previous invoices prior to the commencement of work on new Projects or preparation of the next level of estimation. Coordinate with fee proposal writer if project scope seems different from that of the proposal. Discuss corrective plan of action with Corporate Director of Service Delivery. When requested, sign-off on control sheets as related to proposed hours.
• Project Coordination: Ensure control sheets for each new Project is available at weekly production meeting for use by the Corporate Director of Service Delivery to monitor manpower requirements and job costing. Coordinate with other team members to ensure that all information has been compiled and reviewed into the estimate.

Qualifications:

• A bachelor's degree in a Construction Related Disciple is preferred.
• Over three (3) years of estimating experience on CSI (ASC) Trades Divisions.
• Experience estimating large ground-up capital construction projects preferred.
