Civil Estimator

We are looking to hire a Civil Estimator for our Charleston, SC office although this position can work hybrid only needing to be in office occasionally (1 week out of the month).

You will be responsible for preparing estimates for product installations, including reviewing specifications, performing takeoffs, assisting with the design and identifying key subcontractors. Estimates vary in complexity and value depending on job type, ranging from $0.5M - $5M+. MUST HAVE experience with moving water through pipes, flat panel drains, water detention system, stone compaction and density factors etc.

Essential Duties:

· Reads, understands and communicates project specifications for construction, including civil specifications, and architectural drawings

· Relies on the use of construction plans, accurate take-offs, historical information, vendor quotes to prepare and analyze project estimates, budgets and cost

· Identifies and determines key drivers of risk, cost and profitability in a given design

· Prepares cost estimates for private, commercial and municipal projects

· Performs risk analysis

· Obtains, reviews and negotiates offers and quotes with subcontractors or vendors

· Creates and submits estimate reports, bid proposals or RFPs to appropriate persons (project managers, clients, bidding competitions, etc.)

· Builds relationships with key vendors (subcontractors, suppliers, engineers, etc.)

· Provides consultation on planning (schedules, manpower needs etc.)

Qualifications:

· Proficiency with civil construction estimating required

· PE License preferred

· BSc/BA in engineering, construction science or relevant discipline preferred

· Proven experience as estimator or similar position

· Experience with financial and project management principles

· In-depth knowledge of research and data analysis methods and estimation formulas

· Math and IT ability with an analytical mindset

· Proficient in relevant software Microsoft Office especially Excel and MS Project (Plan Swift, ProCore, AGTEK,or similar)

· Outstanding communication and negotiation abilities

· Detail focused with track record of thoroughness, reliability, team player with a “can-do” attitude

· Excellent organizational skills

· Must be able to estimate multiple projects at once
