Job Details
Established Denver based commercial general contractor has an immediate opening for a qualified estimator with 2-10 years’ experience in estimating commercial construction projects ranging from $1M to $50M. Projects are located in Denver Metro, Fort Collins and Colorado Springs.
Responsibilities
Prepare detailed and conceptual estimates for new projects.
Develop basis of estimate appropriate to project size and complexity.
Coordinate estimate reviews with business development, project management, and superintendents.
Recommend allowances for design, construction, escalation, and contingency.
Track historical costs and benchmark data for future estimates.
Analyze and compare sub-contractor and supplier quotes.
Compile bid tab history information.
Determine ROM budget at project initiation.
Evaluate feasibility of planning phase options.
Provide cost estimates for various construction methods.
Present evaluation results to client management.
Maintain standard material and labor units.
Solicit competitive pricing from sub-contractors and suppliers.
Confirm sub-contractor/supplier quotations.
Liaise with construction staff on estimate variances.
Qualifications
3-10 years of estimating experience.
B.S. in Construction Management, Engineering, or related field preferred.
Training in cost planning and estimating.
Experience with commercial projects $1M-$50M.
Knowledge in cost engineering and scheduling.
Experience writing and negotiating subcontractor scopes of work.
Ability to read and interpret drawings and specifications.
Strong computer skills, including estimating software, on-screen takeoff software, spreadsheets, bid management, and communication tools.
Proficiency with MS Word and MS Excel.
Knowledge of construction sequencing, building codes, and standards.
Understanding of architectural, civil, structural, mechanical, and electrical systems.
Effective verbal and written communication skills.
Excellent multitasking and follow-up skills.
