Job Description

General Contracting Firm (Civil) in Somerset County, NJ that has been in business for over 80 years, they are doing over $100 million in business and due to their growth, they have a need for an Estimator with knowledge and field experience in Earthwork, HeavyBid, Underground Utilities, Structural CIP Concrete and Building Erection.

The Ideal Candidate Will Possess

5+ yrs. experience as an Estimator or experience in the field with Union Labor, Heavy Construction Company as a Superintendent, Project Engineer or Project Manager so that they can visualize and understand how to build the project.

• A Degree in Civil Engineering, Construction Technologies or equivalent.
  
  

An ability to prepare accurate/detailed Quantity Take-offs, Change Orders, Cost Estimates, Schedule of Values, and Proposals for construction projects in the Public/Private Sector.

An extreme focus to detail and solid communication skills (Electronic and Verbal).

A willingness to work full-time in a quiet Office environment. Site visits for pre-bid meetings are required.

Exceptional Computer Skills And Document Review Abilities.

Projects are in the range of $50k to $20 million.

The position is paying in the $80-120k area, depending on experience along with a competitive and comprehensive compensation, medical benefits package and 401k.

• Abel to act as a resource to project management during the award and start-up phase to clarify any issues regarding what was considered in the estimate including materials and methods of construction.
  
  

An ideal candidate will have the following skills and experience:

• Familiarity with construction specifications, construction codes, permitting, and inspections.
• Superior verbal and written communication skills, work ethic, and professionalism.
• Highly proficient with Microsoft Office suite (including Outlook, Word, & Excel)
• Demonstrated decision making skills.
• Ability to respond quickly and effectively under pressure and deadlines.
• Monitor the activities of other estimators if necessary.
• Contact subcontractors, suppliers, and specialty service companies for RFPs.
• Review and evaluate subcontractor’s, vendor’s and supplier’s proposals.
