POSITION OVERVIEW: This position is responsible for assessing and estimating the quantity and cost of all labor and materials required for flooring projects. Their primary role is to evaluate the scope of work, gather relevant information, and provide accurate and timely estimates to customers.


ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS & RESPONSIBILITIES:

  1. Project Evaluation: Review project plans and, specifications to determine the scope of work.
  2. Cost Estimation: Analyze project requirements and calculate the quantities of all materials and labor required to successfully complete the project.
  3. Pricing and Quoting: Work with Sales and Operations leadership to determine the appropriate margin to add to cost based on project size and customer preferences. Create a quote based on the determined margin to present to customer...
  4. Material Selection: When appropriate, be prepared to advise clients on suitable flooring options based on their preferences, budget, and project requirements. Recommend appropriate materials, such as laminate, tile, carpet, vinyl, or other specialized flooring types, considering factors like durability, aesthetics, and maintenance requirements.
  5. Vendor Coordination: Collaborate with suppliers and vendors to obtain pricing and availability of flooring materials. Coordinate with the procurement team to order materials as per project requirements.
  6. Documentation: Prepare and maintain accurate documentation of estimates, quotes, and material orders. Keep records of project specifications, measurements, and any changes made during the estimation process.
  7. Client Communication: Interact with clients to understand their flooring needs, answer inquiries, and address concerns. Present estimates and quotes professionally, explaining the cost breakdown and any potential variations based on specific project requirements.
  8. Collaboration with Project Team: Coordinate with project managers and other stakeholders to ensure accurate project estimation and smooth workflow. Communicate any changes, revisions, or challenges related to flooring installation to the relevant team members.
  9. Industry Knowledge: Stay updated with industry trends, new flooring materials, installation techniques, and best practices. Attend workshops, seminars, and training sessions to enhance knowledge and skills related to flooring estimation.
  10. Quality Control: Monitor ongoing projects to ensure adherence to estimated quantities, quality standards, and project timelines. Address any deviations or issues promptly and provide solutions to maintain project efficiency.


Qualifications:

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Solid knowledge of different flooring materials, their properties, and installation methods.
  • Strong mathematical and analytical skills for accurate quantity calculations and cost estimation.
  • Proficiency in using estimating software, MeasureSquare, and tools.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to interact with clients and team members effectively.
  • Attention to detail and ability to work with precision.
  • Time management skills to handle multiple projects and meet deadlines.
  • Prior experience in flooring estimation or a related field is usually preferred.
  • A background in construction, interior design, or architecture may be advantageous.
