Key Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering from an accredited institution.
  • P.E. certification is a plus.
  • 5-10 years of experience as a Resident Engineer or Construction Engineer in the municipal sector.
  • Certification in IDOT Documentation.
  • Exceptional written and oral communication skills.
  • Proficiency with ICORS, Microsoft Office, and AutoCAD.


Your Role:

Project Inspections:

  • Lead inspections on municipal engineering improvement projects.
  • Effectively coordinate with residents, businesses, and other stakeholders impacted by construction.
  • Review and optimize the contractor’s construction schedule.
  • Implement on-site plan adjustments as needed.
  • Draft and distribute construction notification letters.
  • Maintain comprehensive project diaries and daily inspection logs per IDOT standards.


Construction Documentation:

  • Accurately track quantities for each pay item.
  • Conduct thorough yield checks on materials.
  • Establish and manage progress payment schedules.
  • Develop and verify payment requests.
  • Ensure all documentation meets IDOT standards.
  • Inspect construction to ensure it aligns with project plans.


Coordination and Communication:

  • Collaborate with utility companies for seamless project execution.
  • Organize and lead pre-construction meetings, preparing detailed minutes.
  • Coordinate projects with various entities, including business districts, park districts, and schools.
  • Liaise with permit agencies as necessary (e.g., MWRD & IDOT).


Technical Expertise:

  • Conduct precise construction layout and staking.
  • Utilize one-man and two-man total stations for topographic data acquisition.
