I. Summary

Strata offers a variety of electronic safety platforms: Fully wireless and resilient communications and tracking, post-emergency communications, proximity detection and collision avoidance, hazardous gas monitoring, smart ventilation control, and Wi-Fi voice and data networks. Additionally, Strata is the global leader in the design and manufacturing of underground emergency refuge chambers, and highly specialized construction products.

Our proximity detection and collision avoidance product line has recently expanded to include AI based vision systems for mobile and fixed position applications. Strata is searching for a Computer Vision Engineer to join our engineering team. This individual will primarily be responsible for the machine learning pipeline used to train models in the HazardAI product line.

Ii. Essential Duties And Responsibilities

  • Managing large datasets of object images and videos for training machine learning models
  • Implement any preprocessing functions required to format images for training
  • Development of computer vision algorithms and models (e.g., object detection, image classification, segmentation, pattern recognition)
  • Management of outsourced partners used for tagging data set images
  • Thorough testing, benchmarking, and validation of models prior to deploying for field use
  • Continuously monitoring performance of fielded system and continued improvement of Strata’s AI models
  • Implementing post processing computer vision and detection algorithms as required
  • Keep up with latest advancements in Artificial Intelligence, machine learning, and computer vision techniques

Iii. Qualifications

The qualifications listed below represent the credentials necessary to perform the essential duties and responsibilities of this position.   • Education and/or Experience
  • Bachelor’s degree in computer science or related discipline including coursework and/or working knowledge of mathematics and statistics applicable for object detection and location
  • 3+ years of professional experience in computer science or related field
  • Knowledge/Skills/Abilities
  • Solid background in training computer vision AI models
  • Expertise working on Linux platforms and strong coding skills in Python and C
  • Familiarity with variety of CV algorithms (e.g. OpenCV)
  • C++ coding skills preferred
  • AWS experience preferred
  • Experience working with NVIDIA Jetson devices a plus

IV. WORKING CONDITIONS

  • Location

Canonsburg, PA

  • Travel Requirements The incumbent will be required to travel a maximum of 10% of the time. Trips will likely require overnight stay away from home for one or more nights
  • Physical Demands This position requires the ability to perform general physical exertions, including walking, standing, stooping, climbing, lifting materials or equipment
  • Work Environment The facility is a common office environment adjacent to warehouse space also used for product testing. Office hours are Monday through Friday 8am to 5pm EST although the candidate will be working with a globally diverse team and will be required to accommodate business hours in other time zones on an as-needed basis

This is an Exempt position, which is not eligible for overtime pay.
