Position Purpose/Summary
To assist all buildings with the repair of hardware, set up and configuration of new equipment, network fault diagnosis and correction, installation of network and Audio/Visual wiring and peripherals.
Qualification Requirements
The Computer Technician shall have the ability to work in any environment with dust and heat. Must have appropriate written and oral communication skills, experience and understanding of computer/equipment troubleshooting and repair; basic understanding of different hardware/software platforms.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES (Major duties which the position exists to perform)
Ability to maintain highly confidential information; communicate clearly both orally and in writing, and/or ability to reason and make appropriate decisions.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS
While performing these duties, the employee is regularly required to reach, climb, bend, stand, and walk. The employee must occasionally lift, move, push, or pull up to 50 pounds.
The employee should have good color vision, hearing, and speech capabilities. Close vision ability to look at a computer screen for long periods of time is required.
ENVIRONMENTAL CONDITIONS
The employee will occasionally work in conditions of extreme heat. This job description is not designed to cover or contain a comprehensive listing of activities, duties or responsibilities that are required of the employee.
TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT
Employment will be on an at-will basis for 12 months with two weeks vacation, beginning July 1, or from the time of employment for the duration of the school year with prorated vacation and/or personal leave. Computer technicians will be provided a work calendar showing the specific daily work schedule of the employee. The work calendar may
be modified by the Board of Education at any time, as needs dictate.
Eight and one-half hours (including a 30 minute non-paid lunch period) will constitute a workday. The Assistant Superintendent of Personnel will establish a definite daily schedule.
The yearly salary will be disbursed in twenty-four (24) equal payments.
EVALUATION
Performance of this job will be evaluated annually in accordance with the provisions of the Board's policy on evaluation of support staff personnel.

- An additional $2/hour is available for those who waive health coverage and are able to prove group creditable coverage elsewhere.

- Troubleshoot and repair computers and peripherals.
- Diagnose and repair network-wiring problems including copper, fiber, network equipment, and associated devices.
- Install and maintain classroom presentation technologies and associated wiring (e.g. Projectors, document cameras, smartboards).
- Install and configure computers and related peripherals in both stand-alone and networked environments.
- Install and configure drivers, patches, as well as system and client software.
- Install and configure software for computers in any learning environment.
- Basic Active Directory skills, ability to change passwords, create user accounts, maintain shared storage, and manage network printer objects.
- Support Internet connectivity through installation and configuration of browser, e-mail, and other software.
- Conduct routine, preventative maintenance of all systems.
- Communicate hardware and software needs to the Network Administrator, Server Technician, or Network Technician as appropriate.
- Maintain a neat, clean personal appearance and wear district uniforms at all times when performing custodial duties.
- Perform other duties as assigned by the Assistant Superintendent, Network Administrator, or designee.
- Effectively communicate, verbally and in written form, with administrators, staff, and the community as needed.
- Travel between district buildings as necessary. The employee must have a valid driver’s license.
