The Chan Zuckerberg Biohub San Francisco ( CZ Biohub SF ) ( https://www.czbiohub.org/sf/ ) is an independent nonprofit research institute that brings together three powerhouse universities - Stanford, UC Berkeley, and UC San Francisco - into a single collaborative technology and discovery engine. The Opportunity

The DeRisi Lab seeks experienced PhD level computational biologist for a staff position to pursue machine learning approaches to antigen repertoire data from human samples, created on a variety of platforms, including PhIPseq, mass spec, yeast display and others, with the goal of uncovering disease drivers in autoimmune disease, cancer, and post-infectious inflammation.

You will

• Will work closely with technicians, graduate students, postdocs, and clinicians to analyze high throughput data to surface disease biomarkers or pathogenic targets of auto antibodies
• Ensure meticulous record-keeping of experimental workflows, findings, and analytical data
• Disseminate findings through scientific publications and presentations at internal, local, and international conferences
• Actively participate in the publication process, from manuscript preparation to submission in peer-reviewed journals and open-access platforms
• Contribute to disseminating research findings by depositing software and datasets in recognized repositories
• Stay updated with the latest molecular biology and multiomics techniques relevant to cancer and immunology research
• Provide guidance and mentorship to junior team members, fostering a nurturing learning environment
  
  

You have

Essential –

• PhD in a relevant field with 1-2 years of post-Ph.D. experience, and at least 5 years of research experience
• At least 4 years of experience in cellular and general molecular biology techniques
• 1 year of machine learning with different data types
• 1 year Python or a comparable language
• Robust experience in RNA sequencing (bulk and single-cell) and proteomics methods
• Strong relationship and community-building and interpersonal skills
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills
• Excellent professional judgment, problem-solving skills, and the ability to work independently and as part of a team
• Organizational skills and the flexibility to jump between projects and priorities
