Senior/Principal Computational Biologist - Industry Experience Required/US-Based


What You’ll Do:

We are seeking a data scientist specializing in computational biology with a focus on the microbiome. This role involves collaborating with our engineering team, senior scientists, and Chief Science Officer to help shape the future of female health through data-driven insights and innovations. As we continue to grow, this position offers the opportunity for true ownership and professional development while contributing to the development of our team and culture.


We’re looking for a candidate who is truly passionate about applying their computational and scientific skills to solve real-world health problems and make a tangible impact in women’s health.


Responsibilities:

  • Work together with the engineering, computational, and bench scientists to develop a strong biomarker discovery platform that is specifically tailored to the female anatomy.
  • Use cutting-edge analytic methods for clinical trial design.
  • Create the infrastructure and algorithms for clinical applications, such as finding biomarkers for new treatments or diagnostics.
  • Create and apply analytical techniques to improve the identification, evaluation, and classification of microbial genetic markers by utilizing data from real-world sources as well as next-generation sequencing.
  • Applied statistical and machine learning applications for developing suitable tools and pipelines.


What we’re looking for:

  • 5+ years of experience, including 3+ years in the industry, analyzing NGS microbiome data. Strongly desirable are a PhD in data science, computational biology, and startup experience.
  • extensive experience with large-scale NGS microbiome data analysis, including proficiency with pertinent pipelines and computational tools.
  • Solid background in the identification and validation of biomarkers.
  • Enthusiasm and the capacity to work with real-world data.
  • Competent in relational data systems, statistical modeling, algorithm development, and scientific programming.
  • Demonstrated capacity to operate in cloud computing environments, especially with high-performance computing systems and pipeline parallelization.
  • Solid knowledge of microbiological and clinical indicators, as well as expertise creating prognostic or predictive algorithms.
