Duration: 10 months
Estimated pay range: $56 - 70 per hour per client contract and candidate skills, experience and work location.
Job Description
Primary Function of Position
In this role, you will move surgery forward by putting the highest quality and most innovative products in the hands of our customers to enable better surgical outcomes for patients.
The ideal candidate will apply their hands-on experience in manufacturing to produce da Vinci surgical systems in the Multiport Business Unit.
This role is responsible for on-going sustaining and improvement efforts for all active Systems products with a focus on mechanical components and assemblies.
The assemblies under the responsibility of this role include metal and plastic parts that are machined, cast, molded, welded, formed, sintered, etc.
You will select and develop our suppliers and manufacturing processes to produce high quality and reliable parts.
Roles And Responsibilities
Supplier Quality and Performance Improvement
Serving as a liaison between suppliers, design engineering, manufacturing engineering and purchasing.
Resolve and prioritize supplier issues to ensure on time delivery of product to support production.
Support New Product Development activity for new purchased product, which may include:
Inspection Correlation
First Article Inspection
Support supplier manufacturing process improvements that affect quality by supporting the SE team in using various tools and best practices including project management, 8D/6M methods and other Six Sigma practices
Investigate and resolve ISI Production line down events that are parts related; includes the following:
In-depth Root Cause Analysis
Disposition non-conforming material (Containment)
Implement Corrective Actions/Preventive Actions
Documenting all the above
Skill/Job Requirements
To adequately perform the responsibilities of this position the individual must possess:
BS degree in Engineering (preferred degree in Mechanical or Aerospace)
Experience in evaluating and supporting supplier/product-related issues
Knowledge of Good Manufacturing Process (GMP) and Manufacturing techniques
Empower suppliers to own completion of part qualification deliverables (such as PPQP, PPAP): pFMEA, Special Process Validations, FAI, Cpk Studies, Capacity Studies, DfX, and cost analysis.
In-depth analytical and trouble-shooting skills, and inspection techniques
Ability to read and interpret detailed specification drawings, including GD&T, and communicate technical information
Dependable Project Management skills
Excellent written and verbal communication skills
Preferred Skills
Advanced computer experience using MS Excel, SAP (or other ERP system), and Agile (or other document control system)
Knowledge of input variables into manufacturing processes that impact quality
Experience in complex mechanical assembly or mechanisms
Work closely with design, manufacturing, and project teams to implement performance, quality, capacity, and cost improvements. Mange project plans and timelines.
Communicate to stakeholders on status.
Seek out new suppliers in support of product needs. Assess suppliers for capability to fit Intuitive’s quality and business requirements.
Empower suppliers to own completion of part qualification deliverables (such as PPQP, PPAP): pFMEA, Special Process Validations, FAI, Cpk Studies, Capacity Studies, DfX, and cost analysis.
Ensure compliance to quality management system and regulatory requirements and support supplier audits.
Apply improvements for supplier process issues by using true root cause analysis and corresponding corrective and preventive actions. (SCAR)
Solve complex problems using structured problem-solving techniques.
Develop suppliers to excel in all KPIs including Supplier Owned Quality, Capacity, and Sub-tier Management.
Execute on supply chain optimizations to meet cost reduction objectives.
Computer Aided Design (CAD) tools
Skill/Job Requirements
BS degree in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent
Minimum 1 year related experience in Process/Manufacturing Development/Engineering, Supplier Development Engineering or related field
Experience leading teams to solve difficult technical and process problems
Excellent Project Management, complex problem solving skills, and written/verbal communication skills
Medical Device experience is a plus
Ability to travel to suppliers (domestic and international) as needed: 20%
