Experienced Compliance Engineer (HVAC)


Daikin Comfort Technologies Manufacturing, L.P. is seeking an experienced Compliance Engineer for a high-volume manufacturing environment. In this role, you will help drive both domestic and international certification projects for Daikin's product line. This role will require you to work closely with 3rd party certification agencies, participate in standards development for our Compliance Team. The successful Engineer will work with various departments to help craft a plan to meet all new performance, construction and marking requirements without interruption to our current or future product and laboratory certifications. Some domestic travel will be required for this role.

Responsibilities

  • As a member of the Product Compliance group, you will be responsible for general procedures and policies of the Performance Certification Program operated by the Air-Conditioning, Heating, and Refrigeration Institute (AHRI).
  • Maintain all certified product data in the AHRI Directory of Certified Product Performance
  • Responsible for samples / testing units’ inventory management such as samples acquisition, samples disposition (return and scrap) and inventory occupancy / capacity including periodic audits to the warehouse.
  • Responsible for contacting 3rd party testing facilities (UL / Intertek) to coordinate samples selection and arrange shipment
  • Work directly with external laboratories off-site such as United Laboratories and Intertek to ensure proper conformance to test standards and methods, timely project completion, and prompt resolution of testing issues.
  • Clearly communicate issues to engineering and management both verbally and written. Document and communicate compliance status to stakeholders.
  • Analyze and prepare testing reports
  • Work with internal team to improve product or process compliance.
  • Participate in design / technical product reviews.
  • Assess compliance to standards processes used for product submission for certification within the development organization and the Product Management department
  • Compile and maintain technical report files for product


Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering discipline with at least 4+ years industry experience
  • 8+ years of experience with domestic and international compliance and certification programs
  • Experience with HVAC/ Refrigeration/ Combustion/Gas Furnace preferred
  • Able to travel up to 50% - 70% depending on the testing season with 3rd party labs (usually 1st half of the year)
