Community Engagement Specialist

Frontier Energy has a new role in our expanding Zero Emission Transportation team. This position will work directly with community groups and individuals on outreach, education, and planning for projects related to EVs and EV charging, clean energy production, and energy efficiency. This position will also support marketing and outreach for EV-related services that our utility clients operate. This engagement specialist may be asked to assist with the Transportation team’s other projects.


This is a full-time position that must be based in the Sacramento area and requires a person who speaks, reads, and writes in English and at least one other language. You’ll need reliable transportation and a flexible schedule to attend meetings in Sacramento, Yolo, San Joaquin counties, and occasional travel to the Bay Area. The position is part of a team that includes Frontier staff, business partners, and client representatives. Specific tasks include:


  • Work with community-based organizations to create outreach plans for their constituents.
  • Organize and attend meetings of community members and help to lead community-centered design sessions for electric transportation.
  • Identify and help to create materials for outreach, education, and engagement for a variety of audiences, including fleet operators, businesses, and individuals.
  • Create or participate in creating websites, web pages, surveys, social media posts, videos, and interactive maps.
  • Regularly develop presentations for other people, and regularly give presentations, speeches, and demonstrations.
  • Support production of detailed, well-referenced reports about outreach and engagement that may include observations and opinions.
  • Use project management tools and techniques to keep multiple simultaneous tasks on track and meet deadlines.


The community engagement specialist will need to be well organized, an excellent communicator, and have experience with keeping tasks on time and on budget. Frontier Energy takes a human-centered approach to all our projects, and we prefer candidates that have experience in customer-facing positions.


Qualifications:

  • Two years of experience in community engagement, public outreach, and/or marketing programs.
  • Experience working with issues of access and equity through policy activities or engagement with communities that are traditionally underserved.
  • Knowledge about the availability of electric vehicles and infrastructure.
  • Able to work independently as a self-motivated team player.
  • “Customer service” ethic to serve our clients and program partners.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Excellent skills with Word, PowerPoint, Outlook, Adobe Acrobat, and Windows operating systems.
  • Must be able to participate in work events during non-business hours as required.
  • Fluent in at least one language in addition to English.

Highly Desirable Skills/Experience:

  • Training and/or certification as a facilitator.
  • Experience with Social Pinpoint.
  • Experience with data collection and analysis.
  • Experience with implementing state and federally funded grant programs.
  • Knowledge about California’s climate and electrification goals.
