Community Development Senior Manager/Assistant Director

The City of Lake Alfred seeks a talented senior-level professional to join our Community Development team in one of two potential positions. While we are only hiring for one role, the successful candidate will be placed in the position that best aligns with their skills, experience, and current department needs.

What We’re Looking For:

Community Development Assistant Director

Salary Range: $78,813 - $85,309

This leadership role supports the Community Development Director in implementing urban planning, code compliance, and community development programs. Responsibilities include coordinating city resources to achieve growth and development goals, managing projects to enhance the city's landscape, and engaging with public officials and the private sector. The position involves administrative tasks and independent judgment and may require representing the Director at official events. The successful candidate for this role will have:

  • Bachelor's degree in Urban Planning or a related field from an accredited college or university; Master's Degree is preferred
  • Five (5) years of progressively responsible experience in recognized planning agencies or firms with duties relevant to the knowledge, skills, and abilities noted above, including Building and Code Enforcement
  • Two (2) years in a supervisory role.
  • Certification by the American Institute of Certified Planners (AICP)

Planning Manager

Salary Range: 70,143 - $75,925

This position offers a unique opportunity for professional growth involving specialized planning tasks with minimal supervision. It includes supervisory responsibilities and collaborative work within a team environment. Responsibilities encompass policy development, development review, and specialized studies related to the city's development. Key tasks include formulating and implementing the Comprehensive Plan, infrastructure planning, and intergovernmental coordination, requiring effective collaboration with various stakeholders. The successful candidate for this role will have:

  • Bachelor's degree in Urban Planning or a related field from an accredited college or university; Master's Degree is preferred
  • Five (5) years of progressively responsible experience in recognized planning agencies or firms with duties relevant to the knowledge, skills, and abilities noted above
  • One (1) year of supervisory experience
  • Certification through the American Institute of Certified Planners (AICP)

An equivalent combination of education, training, and experience which provide the necessary knowledge, skills, abilities, and other competencies necessary for success in the target position may be considered.
