Communications Specialist

PotomacWave is looking for a Communications Specialist tojoin our team supporting a Federal client in Washington, DC. This position serves as a communications advisor to senior management on issues related to both internal and external outreach and communications strategies.

Responsibilities:

  • Assess and evaluate the client's communications needsand recommend, developand implementcommunications programs and tasks that advance the mission of the office
  • Assist with creating and delivering news and other information to both internal and external customers and entities including:
    • Widely distributed emails
    • Official announcements
    • Memorandums
    • Press releases
    • Official written documentation as neededdesigned to inform members of the Office of Intelligence and Counterintelligence,and other outside organizations
  • Ensure that all written documentation prepared for signature or requiring concurrence or approval bysenior management conforms to established procedures and regulations, grammar, format, correctness, and classification guidelines
  • Plan, organize and accomplish a variety of work tasks to meet priorities, goals, and objectives
  • Maintains appropriate files, reports and records as required

Qualifications:

  • Thorough knowledge of communications and marketing best practices, including communications policy, branding initiatives, evaluation techniques, and marketing/communications programs directed to multiple constituencies;
  • Proven ability to analyze a variety of complex issues and subjects related to internal and external communications issues that cut across multiple departments, offices, bureaus, etc.
  • Proven ability to develop and execute strategic internal and external communications plans that advance organizational mission and goals
  • Mastery of editorial and publishing techniques including:
    • Working knowledge of typography, layout, and design theory and requirements to format publications, and integrate text and graphics
    • Working knowledge of word processing, graphics, and desktop publishing computer technology for publication layout and to integrate text and graphics
    • Comprehensive computer literacy in the use of various word processing and other types of software (spreadsheets, databases, graphics, etc.) to process and produce a wide range of documents
  • Excellent oral and written communications skills, proven experience in writing and editing documents, excellent grammar, and strong skills in report writing.
  • A Bachelor's Degree from an accredited university or college in such fields as English, journalism, history/social sciences, marketing, communications, or media design. A Master’s Degree is preferred.
  • The selection of an individual for this position may be conditioned upon his or her successful completion of a counterintelligence-scope polygraph examination.
  • Must have an active TSclearance.
Salary range $60,000 - $80,000
