Location: Los Angeles, CA (remote work with some in-person meetings and events)

Employment Type: Part-time (20-25 hours per week)

Reports to: Executive Director


About the Organization:

Songwriters of North America (“SONA”) is a membership-based advocacy organization formed by and for professional songwriters in 2015. SONA advocates on behalf of songwriters’ interests before legislative bodies, administrative agencies, and the courts. SONA is an open and diverse community that unites enthusiastic music creators and thoughtful business leaders to create a unified voice to protect artistic expression, compensation, and the rights of songwriters in North America. 

We are seeking a dynamic and creative Communications and Graphics Manager to join our team and help us amplify our message and engage our community effectively.


Job Summary:

The Communications and Graphics Manager will play a crucial role in enhancing the association's visibility and engagement through compelling communications and graphic design. This position is responsible for developing and executing communication strategies, creating visual content, and managing the association's digital media presence. The ideal candidate will be a skilled communicator with a strong design background and a passion for the creative arts.


Key Responsibilities:

Communications Strategy:

  • Develop and implement comprehensive communication plans to promote the association's initiatives, events, and advocacy efforts.
  • Craft compelling content for newsletters, press releases, website, social media, and other communication channels.
  • Collaborate with internal teams to ensure consistent and effective messaging.

Graphic Design:

  • Create visually appealing graphics for digital and print media, including social media posts, brochures, flyers, event materials, and reports.
  • Maintain and develop the association’s visual brand identity.
  • Manage design projects from concept to completion, ensuring high-quality and timely delivery.

Digital and Social Media Management:

  • Oversee the association’s social media accounts, including content creation, posting, and volunteer and community engagement.
  • Monitor and analyze social media and website metrics to optimize content strategy and improve engagement.
  • Update and maintain the association’s website with current and relevant information.

Event Promotion:

  • Design and produce promotional materials for events, workshops, and conferences.
  • Develop and execute marketing campaigns to boost event attendance and visibility for in-person and online events.
  • Assist in the planning and coordination of association events.

Public Relations:

  • Build and maintain relationships with PR firm and industry influencers.
  • Assist in the preparation of speeches, presentations, and other communication materials for the executive team.



Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Communications, Graphic Design, Marketing, Music Business or a related field.
  • Minimum of 3-5 years of experience in communications, social media, graphic design, or a related role.
  • Proficiency in graphic design software (Adobe Creative Suite, Canva, etc.).
  • Proficiency in content creation for social media platforms (Instagram, TikTok, LinkedIn, Facebook, YouTube)
  • Experience with Publer (or similar platforms)
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Proficiency in systems like Shopify, Google Suite, Memberspace, Active Campaign.
  • Strong understanding of social media platforms and digital marketing strategies.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines effectively.
  • Experience in the music industry or a passion for music and the arts is a plus.
  • Creative thinking and a keen eye for detail.
