Job Summary
As a Commodity Sales Trader, you will play a critical role in our sales and trading team, focusing on buying and selling commodities such as metals, energy, or agricultural products. This position requires a deep understanding of market dynamics, excellent negotiation skills, and the ability to build and maintain strong client relationships.
Responsibilities
Execute buy and sell orders for commodities while managing the associated risks.
Develop and maintain relationships with a diverse client base to understand their needs and provide tailored market advice.
Conduct market analysis to identify trading opportunities and trends to inform client strategies.
Collaborate with analysts to receive timely market information and risk assessments.
Provide clients with up-to-date market intelligence, pricing, and trading advice.
Negotiate deals and contracts with clients and ensure compliance with all regulatory requirements.
Maintain a thorough understanding of market regulations and changes that can impact trading activities.
Manage a portfolio of client accounts, ensuring optimal client service and satisfaction.
Participate in industry events and conferences to enhance market knowledge and expand professional network.
Keep accurate records of transactions, ensuring transparency and compliance with industry standards.
Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Economics, Business, or a related field. Advanced degrees or certifications such as CFA are advantageous.
Minimum of 3-5 years of experience in commodity trading, sales trading, or a related financial services role.
Strong understanding of the commodities markets and financial instruments.
Proven track record of sales success and market analysis.
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to effectively interact with clients.
High level of numeracy and strong analytical skills.
Ability to work in a fast-paced and dynamic environment.
Strong ethical standards and a professional demeanor.
Proficiency in trading platforms and analytical software.
Must be registered or able to register as a trader with the relevant regulatory body.
