Commercial Lines Manager

We are looking for a Manager, Commercial Lines to join our team!

Job Purpose:

This position is responsible for building, integrating, and maintaining a cohesive team of direct reports and contract staff to achieve a continuing increase in production of all commercial lines’ markets based on superior service standards.


Success Factors:

·   Well-functioning commercial lines team, cross-trained for maximum product knowledge and staffing coverage.

·   Superior service response times and sub-producer experience.

·   Written premium at or above budget.


Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

·   Manage balanced workloads of direct reports and contract staff, effectively utilizing entire workday.

·   Ensure all established quoting, binding, and standard of service procedures, as well as response times, are followed, and continually evaluating opportunities to further improve service standards.

·   Monitor production of all products and provide Supervisor with a consolidated report monthly.

·   Coordinate with insurance company representatives to facilitate production of premium.

·   Support agent education and training strategies to improve the quality of submissions while increasing new premiums in targeted markets.

·   Maintain current product information on Big I Alliance Blue product pages.

·   Support efforts of marketing team and agency development team as needed.


Additional Duties and Responsibilities: This position may interact with state associations, members, company representatives, and IIABA staff. Big I Advantage staff must be on the side of reasonableness and professionalism under pressure and in face of sometimes unfair positions arising from the association’s position in industry and/or by representing the national organization in the federation structure.


Provide additional support as needed.


Education and professional Requirements:

  • Property & casualty insurance license.
  • Demonstrated experience writing commercial lines.
  • Sales/marketing mindset.
  • Ability to coach and influence producers.
  • Proficient with internet web browsers and associated technology.
  • Solid knowledge of AMS360 and Microsoft Office package of programs, especially Word, PowerPoint, Outlook and Excel.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Organized with great attention to detail and problem-solving abilities.
  • Ability to prioritize several duties.
