Summary

The Water and Forest Sustainability Intern position will assist with water conservation and forest health projects and partnerships to help SRP achieve its 2035 Community Water Conservation and Forest Health goals. This position will assist with the development and execution of project or partnership agreements, planning and scheduling tasks, writing business proposals, data entry and analysis, and communicating with internal and external partners and customers.

What You'll Do

• Assist with developing, drafting, and executing agreements, initiatives, grant or funding applications/ proposals, and policies to support and meet water conservation and forest health goals.
• Assist with project management tasks, including planning and scheduling.
• Works closely with academic institutions and third parties to prepare communications documents.
• Monitor and analyzes trends, regulatory action and other activities affecting water conservation and forest management, sustainability or environmental markets.
• Interact with and present to a wide variety of professional and public audiences representing SRP interests.
• Support internal water planning and forest health analysts.
• Support other departments and outside agencies requiring planning data and/or assistance related to planning for water resources.

Experience

Requires a minimum of 6 months experience in the water resource management, natural resource management, environmental science, forestry, sustainability, economics, data analytics, or related fields.

Should have knowledge of Arizona water resources, sustainability or environmental concepts.

Additional Information

Excellent interpersonal relationship, organizational and project coordination, oral and written communication skills.

Ability to act with a high degree of confidentiality.

Preferences

• At least 60 undergraduate credits from an accredited institution in sustainability, natural resource management, environmental science, water resource management, forestry, public administration, economics, data analytics, or a related field from an accredited educational institution.
• Completion of Bachelor's degree in sustainability, natural resource management, environmental science, water resource management, forestry, public administration, economics, data analytics, or a related field from an accredited educational institution.
  
  

Education

College level coursework (100+) from an accredited institution will be evaluated on an individual basis according to the skill/level to determine if applicable to the position by management.

Hybrid Workplace

SRP currently offers a hybrid workplace, which allows employees whose jobs can be performed remotely, and who have sufficient technical capability, to telework up to three days per week. Although teleworking is available, all employees must live and work in Arizona.
