Position: College & Career Counselor
Reports to: Lead Counselor and Site Principal
Supervises: None
Qualifications
FLSA Qualification: Exempt
Evaluation: Performance of this job will be evaluated in accordance with provisions of the Board of Education's policy on Staff Evaluation (2.20/certified).

Regular Requirements: Stand for extended periods; sit for extended periods; twist at the neck and trunk; bend at the waist; stoop, kneel, crouch; lift/move up to 20 pounds; handle objects and tools with hands; repetitive use of fingers and hands.
Occasional Requirements: Reach with hands and arms overhead, above shoulder and horizontally; lift/move up to 40 pounds.
Visual Requirements: Close, color, peripheral, depth perception, ability to adjust focus.
Hearing/Speaking Requirements: Adequate to exchange information.

Qualifications
- Hold or be eligible for Oklahoma teaching certificate and Oklahoma Counseling certificate.
- Demonstrated interpersonal and communication skills.
- Counseling experience preferred, but not required.
- Satisfy all district requirements with regards to physical health and citizenship.
- Such alternatives to the above qualifications as the Board may find appropriate and acceptable.
- Coordinates college bulletins and communications.
- Updates annual School Profile.
- Supervises the preparation and processing of college scholarship applications.
- Completes recommendation forms for college admissions and scholarships.
- Provides student information to colleges and potential employers according to the Board policy on student records.
- Assists students in course selection and enrollment.
- Provides student counseling that will lead to increased personal growth, self-understanding, and maturity.
- Interprets student records and protects the confidentiality.
- Confers with parents when necessary.
- Provides service training in guidance for faculty and staff.
- Plans and leads August GPACAC College Fair.
- Creates and maintains the JHS Website’s College Office and Guidance Office website pages, as well as College & Career Office social media.
- Coordinates the schedule for college admission representatives’ visits. Meets with college admission representatives.
- Participates in various college sponsored functions.
- Plan Fall College Parent/Student Workshops.
- Updates Naviance Enrichments and Scholarships.
- Coordinates all scholarship related programs, including coordination of JHS local scholarships.
- Responsible for Graduation Scholarship Reporting.
- Supports NCAA/NAIA parent meeting and communications, as needed.
- Communicates information to seniors through a senior assembly and/or classroom visits.
- Manages College & Career Budget.
- Leads internship program, including scheduling and coordination of student internships.
- Leads planning and implementation of PrepYou Senior Conference.
- Develops and maintains relationships with community partners.
- Assists with career planning activities.
- Performs such other office duties as may be assigned by supervisor.
