We’re looking for a Collections Manager to join our team!
The Collections Manager is responsible for overseeing Working Capital collections operations. While the focus of the position is on accounts prior to write-off, a comprehensive understanding of end-to-end collections and recovery management is required. This Collections Manager position is responsible for training, empowering, and managing the assigned team of collectors while maintaining proper oversight of team and individual effectiveness measured through quantitative and qualitative metrics. This position must support business strategy to optimize collection rates using industry best practices and ensure legal and regulatory compliance. The use of data and reporting is also critical to managing in a proactive manner that reflects adaptability to changing market conditions.
Key Tasks
- Hire, train, coach, and develop team members
- Conduct regular performance evaluations, including monthly 1-on-1’s and team meetings
- Monitor team performance through call monitoring and collector scorecard activities
- Maintain and enhance KPIs and incentive programs to drive team performance
- Work queue and workload management to optimize collection team performance
- Review, approve, and track exceptions to ensure compliance and efficiency
- Oversee collection agency and loss mitigation referral criteria and processes
- Support account escalation, collaborating with loss mitigation for seamless account transfers
- Coordinate strategic efforts and issue management with managers
- Communicate and update company leadership on results
- Provide feedback to the production team on trends and issues
- Engage sales and partners to raise awareness of problem accounts and collaborate on resolution strategies
Skills & Specifications
- Proven ability and balanced approach to managing people and business needs
- Strong understanding of basic and advanced collection principles
- Adherence to legal and regulatory requirements
- Propose, plan, implement, and assure adoption of business changes
- Familiarity with collections software and tools
- Ability to build and leverage portfolio and collections reporting
- Proficient in Excel and Power BI Reporting
Education & Qualifications
- 5+ years of experience as a collector in consumer or business loans (excl. mortgage)
- 2+ years of credit or collections management experience
- Expertise on Fair Debt Collection Practices
- Experience with the Working Capital product (loan and business advance/MCA)
- Degree in Business Administration, Finance, Economics, or other related field a plus
