At BetterUp, we compensate our employees fairly for their work. Base salary is determined by job-related experience, education/training, residence location, as well as market indicators. The range below is representative of base salary only and does not include equity, sales bonus plans (when applicable) and benefits. This range may be modified in the future.
The base salary range for this role is $102,000 – $170,400.
If you live in New York, the base salary range for this role is:
$113,600 – $170,400: New York City
$113,000 – $169,000: Nassau, Newburgh
$102,000 – $152,000: Albany, Buffalo, Rochester, Syracuse

About The Work
There are three key pillars to the role of Coach Experience Manager:
- Build business intelligence
- Product design and launch
- World building
- Build business intelligence
What you’ll do
- Partner with Analysts and Data Scientists to understand macro-and micro-trends that help us raise the bar of excellence for Coaches.
- Conduct novel research that generates insights for us to action on.
- Rally multiple stakeholders to drive solutions based on research and analysis.
- Product design and launch
What you’ll do
- Ensure a superior pool of Coaches for seed stage products.
- Keep participating Coaches informed and equipped during the rapidly shifting seed stage.
- Surface the most essential coach feedback to influence product iterations.
- Explore the possibilities of AI to enrich Coach experience and effectiveness.
- World building
What you’ll do
- Establish world-building layer on top of our community that helps Coaches feel connected, engaged, and excited about the future we are building
- Partner with Coach Community Manager to create and execute a micro-community strategy that gives every coach a feeling of intimacy, while still being just one degree from a trusted BetterUp employee.
- You have 5+ years of experience in a mission-driven start-up and/or a leading agency grounded in human centered design.
- You are a strategist and builder, able to assess a wide range of approaches while maintaining a bias toward action.
- You have a curious mind that anchors to powerful questions and transforms a mere job into an adventure.
- You push the pace of the work and the team without sacrificing quality.
- You possess a .com brain and a .org heart—able to balance the tensions of peak performance and humanity with grace.
- You are well versed in a range of methodologies including, but not limited to: human-centered design, systems thinking, journey mapping, usability and concept testing, and content strategy.
- You can speak the language of operators, analysts, and engineers. You are also comfortable with data and able to leverage it in decision-making.
- You are an expert workshop designer and facilitator who can command a room and drive toward clarity.
- You think in frameworks and speak in stories, bringing people along toward a desired outcome.
- You have expert level agility, able to move from project to project, pivot to pivot, while vacillating easily between the on-the-ground and 50,000 foot view.
