Shriners Children's is the premier pediatric burn, orthopaedic, spinal cord injury, cleft lip and palate, and pediatric subspecialties medical center. The Clinical Laboratory Manager plans, directs and manages the overall operations of the laboratory and the activities of assigned staff in accordance with the established regulatory and accreditation standards for clinical lab science. Develops and maintains positive working relationships with physicians and hospital staff. Acts as a resource to staff, patients, and families, as well as, the public regarding assigned areas of responsibility.

This position is full time and benefits eligible. The pay range for this position is $63.26 - $94.88/hour. Compensation is determined based on years of experience and departmental equity.

  • Interviews, hires, counsels, and recommends termination of employees in accordance with Human Resources policies and procedures and in consultation with the Director.
  • Communicates job duties to staff in a clear, understandable, and concise manner; plans, directs, and supervises work of assigned staff utilizing positive communications and effective problem solving skills.
  • Provides consistent input on performance in consultation with Director; to include initial planning/review session, annual performance appraisal, and counseling, if necessary, based on defined criteria and in compliance with Human Resources policies and procedures.
  • Consults in a timely manner with Director regarding staff performance, problems or concerns which may affect efficient and effective department operations, and hospital-wide issues which may have a direct or indirect effect on department morale.
  • Delegates appropriate responsibility and authority to staff according to relevant job descriptions and individual capabilities.
  • Communicates in an appropriate and timely manner with Facility Director; seeks input, provides accurate information and makes recommendations for policy and/or practice change.
  • Monitors, controls, evaluates and reports departmental expenditures for salary, equipment and supplies; reports over/under budget variances and recommends control measures within established timeframes.

Required

Bachelor's degree in Medical Terminology, Laboratory Science or Related Subject
