As the Hospital Manager Laboratory, you will be responsible for ensuring that all areas are operated in accordance with advisory and regulatory standards, maintain a fiscally sound budget, develop and implement department initiatives that align with the greater facility’s mission, oversee administrative operations, and ensure that the clinical labs are operating at the highest standard of quality.
Key Responsibilities
Provide strategic leadership and direction for the hospital laboratory, aligning with organizational goals and objectives.
Oversee the day-to-day operations of the laboratory, including staffing, scheduling, and resource management.
Develop and implement policies and procedures to ensure compliance with regulatory standards and accreditation requirements.
Establish and maintain quality control measures to ensure accuracy and precision in laboratory testing.
Foster a culture of continuous improvement and innovation in laboratory practices and technologies.
Collaborate with other departments and healthcare providers to optimize patient care outcomes.
Manage laboratory budgets and resources effectively, ensuring cost-efficient operations.
Stay abreast of advancements in laboratory science and technology, integrating new methodologies as appropriate.
Provide leadership and mentor ship to laboratory staff, promoting professional development and teamwork.
Qualifications
Bachelor's degree in Medical Technology, Clinical Laboratory Science, or related field required; Master's degree preferred.
Current certification as a Medical Laboratory Scientist (MLS) or Medical Technologist (MT) by a recognized accrediting agency (ASCP, AMT, etc.).
Minimum of 5 years of progressive experience in a clinical laboratory setting, with at least 1 year in a supervisory or managerial role.
Strong knowledge of laboratory operations, including specimen processing, analysis, and reporting, across various laboratory disciplines (hematology, chemistry, microbiology, etc.).
Familiarity with laboratory information systems (LIS), electronic medical records (EMR), and proficiency in Microsoft Office applications.
Excellent communication, interpersonal, and problem-solving skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively with diverse stakeholders.
Demonstrated leadership abilities, including the ability to inspire and motivate staff, foster teamwork, and promote a culture of excellence.
Understanding of regulatory requirements and accreditation standards governing clinical laboratories (CLIA, CAP, COLA, etc.).
